Don't know if they are in subsidized housing. Around the time of the 2013 Ohio incident, I believe "Camera" had a story or two re: them getting evicted. At the time, I passed by there a few times on the way to North Foothills Park and saw a unit with an eviction notice on the door. And soon after, maintenance crews working on that unit: new molding, carpet, etc.

"Who the hell would buy a magazine (or anything) from someone knocking on your door? (Girl Scouts excepted)" Well, same people that fall for telemarketing scams and ilk. And especially elderly. Was at an older relative's home a few years ago, and they almost got suckered in. Polite, clean, young lady came to the door. "I live in the neighborhood and I'm selling magazines to fund our school trip to...". Right. Sent her off and educated the relatives about that scam and ilk (as someone else mentioned in comments, lightbulbs, popcorn, candy).

"But, banning smoking on all openspace parks is way overkill" I generally agree with this. Heck! At least on the trails, I can't recall seeing anyone smoking. But this is all about pushing homeless away. North Foothills park, Wonderland Lake, and the trail system off it usually has a few homeless hanging out there drinking, smoking, passing out. But even with new laws, how many cops or "environmental officers" are they going to hire to try enforcing? Still see smokers on the Pearl St, sure, less than used to be, but it hasn't stopped and cops and rent-a-cops that patrol the mall don't seem to have it high on their priority list.

TTW brings up a valid point. With the expanded ban in the fall they want, might not affect many, but for example, the new-ish affordable housing apartment complex at corner of Broadway and Yarmouth. Library in the corner unit, bus stop on Broadway side, all maybe within the exclusion zone when one is on their unit's balcony. Ditto the condos, apartments, townhomes that line Yarmouth (a handful of bus stops on both sides of the street there).

Think I saw mention on the live feed blog that about 2400 started, so, 400-ish did not start (website lists 2814 entrants). Not sure how the bib numbering works, but highest numbered gear bag I saw in the bike/run transition area had a bib number of 2899.

Somewhat poorly written article. "The largest in Colorado, at 1.2 megawatts": is that for a roof-top only installation? Lighthouse's largest installation? Because DIA has something like 4.4MW generating from their panels, for example. Guessing NIST, NREL, etc. have sizable generation as well.

Maybe re: Thursdays being in the stats. However, looking at the previous two weeks of booking information, this past weekend was busy for Boulder PD and DUIs. Since county jail has a reporting day starting and ending on 6:00am, I looked at 6:00a Thur through 6:00a Mon. 4th weekend: 19 Prev weekend: 5 (including 1 bicyclist) 2-weekends back: 7 Looking at just Friday night, Sat morning, looks like folks were getting their drunk on: 7 vs 2 vs 2. Another possible factor skewing things: World Cup. Anectdotal info I heard was the bars were really busy Friday during the matches and up to early evening (ie. Before everyone bailed to go view fireworks). ADD: Denver's numbers are out and they had 44 arrests, down from last year, down 36%. CDOT has a website where you can get a report of arrests for a given "Heat Is On" weekend. Nothing for 2012, 2011 is reporting CSP numbers for Blackhawk, 2010, 14 arrests in Boulder. So, last years numbers might be the odd year, and the 17 reported is tracking to normal.

Yeah, from the furthest tip of Dakota Ridge, it's 1.7mi walk to Lucky's. Nice little workout, especially on the trip back with a sack of groceries for added weight, and slight uphill. Or, short bus ride to Ideal, the local mini-Wholefoods. Sure, in either, you can't get the Costco sized bottle of laundry detergent, but, can always pick that up elsewhere when in the car. As the article said, no one wanted a 58k ft grocery on this site. This is the developer's second attempt at a grocery up north: he wanted to develop a Safeway where Uptown is now, again, shot down by folks up north. So, which grocery and how big would it be to make everyone happy up north? And remember, if enough people make a stink with the city, can maybe force developers hand ala his apartment complex being build on the old Louisville Safeway site: got them an Alfalfa's instead of even more condos.

Also mostly agree, but, this guy is in the Continuing Ed program, if I recall correctly from previous stories. Looks like out-of-state, max 18 credit hours, clocks in at $15,705 for ACCESS program. Also $15,705 for four or more credits for regular Continuing Ed out-of-state.

Nice idea re: unimportant stuff. Unfortunately, your reading comprehension skills are lacking. The jail is Boulder COUNTY, and as the article states, Louisville & Lafayette have doubled in size in 24 years, county population is up 38%. And arrests are down. So, guess "affiliates" like Louisville PD, Lafayette PD, Longmont PD, County Sheriffs etc. need to stop arresting people until their city councils "quick dicking around" and fund the jail or build their own.

Noticed the other day the the rent-a-cops have been stepping it up. Told one of the stick jugglers at Pearl and 11th to move it. Hassled some people re: smoking on the mall. Done more than the cops.
