No, being fair or unfair has zero to do with it being relative. There are absolutes in truth and right and wrong. If we are applying a standard to the scouts, that standard must be applied across the board. The problems we face are in part caused by moral relativism. I am not going on tangents at all, I am just looking for consistency. I will point out the obvious since you cannot see your hypocrisy, I shall quote you and this quote I am making of what you posted is why I started down this path. "They should be required to follow the same rules and laws that any other group that receives public money and uses public resources. Affirmative action was just a portion of my OP, I covered other areas where exclusion of certain groups is completely accepted where in this case it is not. Either it is OK to exclude a person or groups of people based on set criteria, be it race, gender, or sexual orientation etc or it is not. Why is it we are told over and over that we cannot discriminate against anyone for a long list of reasons and that we should treat everyone as equal yet we are constantly asked what our race, gender, religion, etc is over and over. It is OK to exclude someone who is a white hetero Christian male, no one blinks an eye, but you even look like you are discriminating against someone outside of this group and you are demonized. It should be equal across the board. I am still on subject.

As much as we don't like it, it is upholding our Constitutional protections. We have to consistently apply the rights we have. Sometimes sloppy police and/or prosecution procedures prevent justice from being serve. He is having another trial, that does not mean they will not get a conviction the second time around. A trial that impacted my family had some incriminating evidence thrown out because of the same sort of thing, they kept questioning the guy after he invoked his right to remain silent. He still got convicted. Hopefully this will force the state to get its ducks in a row this time around and let us pray for a sane jury.

It is not off the subject at all. It is relevant and an honest comparison to other organizations to see if there is equal treatment and standards being applied. So the answer to my question would be no, no you do not hold everyone to the same accountability and standards. Until we do that, apply the same rules to everyone, we shall always be divided and conquered. To blind ourselves to the fact that not having equal protection under the law (affirmative action) for everyone is forever perpetuating the victim and entitlement mentality that is tearing this nation apart.

Would you apply this to any organization that discriminates against anyone? For example, it only grants scholarships to people of a particular race or ethnic background? How about government jobs that exlude someone from being considered because they don't fit the particular demographic quota they are trying to meet? It is exactly the same thing. We need to be consistant otherwise we just run around like crazy people with conflicting values.

No, I use a lot of sources to cross check each other. There are some that are very suspect. I would encourage people to look at the raw data from the government's own websites and evaluate the information themselves. The number games are played very well by using percentages of percentages. Also creativly putting spending in other buckets and not counting it is a common tactic. There is a lot of fiction being pushed as fact. I recommend people do their own research and crunch their own numbers and make up their own minds, not just parrot what some blog posted.

There is a guy, Martin L. Gross that has written several good books, one is The Government Racket: Washington Waste from A to Z. Make sure you wrap your head in duct tape because it may explode. He has a few other topics in other books that are worth the read. Everything in the mentioned book could be cut entirely and no one would feel any pain.

I don't know if it is still true, but an NFL cheerleader can be fired for embarassing conduct or violating a strict ethics code. If it is true, how sad is it that the cheerleaders are held to a higher standard than the players.
