Nixon may have coined the phrase, but Ron was the one who funded it and put the teeth into it. In 1980 we had 350,000 people in American prisons. Today we house 2.3 million people thanks to the war on drugs. Even China can't touch us when it comes to imprisoning people. We are number 1.

That worked so well for us in the Great Depression and then again in 2008.
