Duel was, IMHO, a good show that was badly misdirected (BOTH times ABC tried to use it). I'd like to see it back, but don't really trust that anyone doing so (if they would even dare to try) would handle it properly.

Since I never spoke to LMAD as a financial decision for CBS, I fail to see how your response is to my post, let alone "one point" of disagreement to it.... But let's go ahead with your discussion. You assert that CBS was only ever considering one hour blocks (either LMAD or Pyramid). I don't think that's actually in evidence. The Pyramid pilots were just half-hours, weren't they? Now, I can certainly see why CBS felt that one hour of one show is cheaper than 2 half-hours of two different shows, but that seems to me to be a decision that they made upon consideration, not before they even started the process. At the risk of speaking for more than just myself, I still think that "most of us felt that the two shows could happily co-exist" is a fair reflection of fan sentiment. More so than the idea that we're upset that LMAD got the go-ahead (at all!). We just wanted Pyramid to get it, too. The reasons (however realistic) for why CBS made the decision that the shows couldn't co-exist does nothing to challenge this assertion of fan sentiment.

Let's be very clear about this. The hard feeling aren't because LMAD was picked up. The hard feelings are that LMAD--a traditionally half-hour show--was expanded to a full hour, thereby pushing Pyramid off! Most of us felt that LMAD and Pyramid could co-exist quite happily.

"I'm curious if Jeff Kirby could face legal action from the show for knowingly fibbing on his application forms." I certainly hope so. Besides any potential damage to Sony's reputation, Kirby committed an actively dishonest act that denied at least one potential contestant out of an appearance on the show, and at least $1000 that the contestant would have earned for his/her appearance.

One possible snag. I don't know that Hasbro owns the SHOWS of Scrabble, Pictionary, Monopoly, et al. Those are probably owned by the companies that made them (Scrabble, for example, was produced by Reg Grundy, which I believe is now owned by FremantleMedia). Doesn't mean these shows WON'T show up on a Hasbro network. Just that rights probably still need clearing.

As a Transformers fan, I've already been following this development with some interest for a few months now, since any new TF programming will probably also be found here. If they start doing game shows, too.... I may have to actually get cable!

Sounds to me simply like contestants should think through their strategy a bit better (anathema to most of the contestants that actually get ON shows, I know). But not really unfair. Contestants know the rules beforehand, and that means that they should be trying to knock out the harder categories first, instead of saving them until the end.

You get to my main criticism of the current clock rules. Unless a player gets to the Million Dollar Question (or unless a special tournament is going on, as the current season has introduced), all that banking is totally meaningless. If you're gonna do "banking time" at all, make it mean something for the 99% of contestants that never see a Million Dollar Question.

The success of this show is really important to the genre. There was a large amount of people disappointed The $1,000,000 Pyramid was not picked up, including myself. There’s word that another soap opera, As The World Turns, may be on its way out. If Deal succeeds, this can definitely grease the wheels and we may see it after all. Taping begins September 15h. And this is the logo that we were provided, yes. OK. I'm going to sound like a broken record before long, but I just have to repeat how utterly insulted I am that Pyramid's chance to air again is in any way dependent the success of the wholly-dissimilar Deal. Deal, to me, has never been more than barely-tolerable background noise, whereas Pyramid is always a pleasure to watch and play along with (how does one play along with Deal, I ask you?), in pretty much any incarnation.

I have to say, I've never been so embarrassed at a celebrity's lack of intelligence, or at least their lack of confidence (she DID get it right, after all). She practically gave up the minute she knew it was a math question, like she wasn't even going to TRY! And then she went with her husband simply because he was European (so it seemed to me) despite the fact that being European had NOTHING whatsoever to do with how to solve the question. It was awful to watch. Even so, I'm glad the charity got the money.

I honestly don't think it's that the classic theme doesn't fit, but that they don't format it to fit the current format very well. But with proper formatting, I honestly don't think anyone would notice any "misfit" at all.

They had the illusion there that it could be won, but it rarely was except for some fluke accident." Indeed, I've been doing the math, and I'm convinced that (except the possibilty of a fluke) they purposely put lowball surveys up there in the "Double" round to ensure that there was NO CHANCE that a family that won both previous Singles could get enough points on the Double for 300. It was rather infuriating.
