One can only make a deal, if the other party also wishes for a deal.

But I follow your drift, ignore the peasants who voted for Brexit and everything will be perfect.

Brino, however, is a very good shorthand description of the Chequers proposals.

So you are happy to split up our country to appease the EU?
Glad you are not our negotiator.

This is a depressing article.
Identity politics is a cultural Marxist construct.
Next it will be we have to ensure that we have the "correct" amount of MPs by race, sexuality etc. etc.
This leads to tribal politics and we have seen where this leads.
By all means encourage women to participate, but quotas are wrong.
I also think it is very good advice to learn more about politics, by starting at the local level before aspiring to be an MP - for anyone.

In simple speech yes, in writing it is largely French/Latin based.

"Investment in education and infrastructure is hence key to keep your and your country's competitiveness. But then higher taxes are seen as a cost and not an investment in the future by so many in the Conservative Party."

The reason for that is quite simple Government "investment" is often just disguised current spending, or vanity projects like HS2. Also, the country has "invested" in education already. We are spending three times the amount we did in the 90s for a worse outcome.

Are you surprised?
When was the last time you heard Mrs May extolling the virtues of Capitalism , or sound money?
In fact, I cannot remember any Conservative politician doing that - what for 20 years or more!

At least somebody from the Government is trying to increase exports.

Lets hope he can be backed by the Civil Servants.

A very disturbing article.
Whilst, it is obvious that we (as Conservatives) should be trying to encourage every individual to join us, this strikes me as identity politics.
Identity politics is a socialist construct to pit one group against another. See what happened when practised in Russia, China etc. when that is followed.

I agree with the most of the concepts mentioned in the article.
If we wish to pursue such a course, then we have to have a new PM.
Someone who articulates the benefits of capitalism, which has shown over the years to bring prosperity to the country and individuals.
Somebody who proclaims the benefits that could stem from Brexit, to grasp the opportunity it offers.
Somebody who can organise new housebuilding and proclaim their achievements from the rooftops, and cut an increasing demand caused by mass immigration.
Somebody who can show the benefits in investing in the railways, cancel HS2 and use some of the money in more local services. Indeed if housing was built where it is needed then some of the capacity problems of commuting would be mitigated.
Somebody who could push forward modernisation - grasping the benefits of Uber/Amazon style businesses, grasping the benefits of fracking, grasping the benefits of AI, grasping the benefits of cutting the aid budget.
Somebody who can lift the spirits of the country by showing the benefits that can be realised by grasping new opportunities.
All we need is a leader who believes in Conservative policies, not somebody who believes in Socialism Lite.
