Big Hollywood : Broadcast TV Veteran: M.I.A.'s BirdGate 'Shouldn't Have Happened'

Actually, the wardrobe malfunction put the nail in the coffin for Janet Jackson's career, as her sales numbers seriously disappointed. (Justin Timberlake, OTOH, is flying quite high right now...).

Big Hollywood : Which Celebrity Had the Best Super Bowl Ad?

I thought Clint's ad was devoid of any reality, w an unnecessary swipe at news pundits who have faced the auto industry's failures head-on, since being micro-managed by the executor-in-chief. I was yelling at the screen. Seinfeld's was the best. A close second was the lead singer for The Darkness, for a Samsung accessory w a stylus pen. I almost want The Darkness to headline next year's halftime show. The Bueller ad was a terrible disappointment.

Big Hollywood : Meryl Streep Is Our Finest Actress? Think Again

I would like to think that Streep has played a version of herself, occassionally, in projects like "The Hours", "The Deer Hunter", and "Kramer vs Kramer"--where she won her first Academy Award. Also, projects like "The Devil Wears Prada", "Mamma Mia" and "Julia and Julia" were all box office hits, a resurgence of Streep's career. That said , your comments about mimicry are well noted.

I agree there are plenty of underseen Christmas Classics out there. Susan Slept Here leaves Christmas behind after its first act; and I found it unwatchable. Why not recommend Aliester Sim's Christmas Carol?

Big Hollywood : Fox Business Warns Parents: Beware Left-Wing Messaging In 'The Muppets'

The screenplay for The Muppets was written, rewritten, fact-checked, re-written, then edited to make a running time, screened, and tweaked. A full collaborative effort. The Newt comments, by contrast, originated solely from a guy who wanted to remove his name from the credits, whose sole talent is that his voice is most approximate to Jim Henson's. The movie is safe. The interviews may or may not be.

He's named Tex Richman for the same reason Avatar's special mineral was called "Unobtainius"--it's a short cut manner to cut to the essence of that particular character. But why stop there? Is it not stereotyping on the positive portrayal of small town life? Or the snootiness of Parisian fashion magazine editors? Or the musical ineptitude of David Grohl? The long and short of it is that the examples I shared contradict this particular analysts' conclusions. Some children's movies do have an agenda, that's for sure. This one most certainly does. But it's sole purpose is to introduce a jaded, technologically-savvy, social-media saturated culture to the joys of old-school Muppetdom. Any other "agenda" is simply over-reaching. Mahna mahna.

Having seen the movie, this is a silly assertion. SPOILERS- Kermit rounds up the whole gang in a gas-guzzler, and the telethon is almost derailed due to the loss of electricity. The act of "putting on a show" is inherently a capitalist act. This film is anti-GREED, not anti-oil-industries, nor anti-business.
