Excellent piece.

To your first point - why?

To your second - if we can do a free trade deal with the EU we could certainly do one with Scotland.

So what? It would be up to the Scots to make their own democratic decision. It is no more up to us than it was to the other EU states to vote on Brexit.

Since England the economic and cultural power house of the UK I fail to see how we would be in any way weaker.

If there are customs posts at Berwick, 1. So what. 2. it would hurt the Scots far more than us if they don't agree a free trade agreement with us, and they will never qualify for EU membership (not that it stopped Greece, Italy or Spain)

The Scots are over-subsidised by the English taxpayer and over-represented at Westminster and yet all they do is whinge.

I have yet to hear a single sustainable reason why we should maintain the Union.

It is typical of the bureaucratic, statist, protectionist, socialist, elitist EU and only shows, yet again, why we are better off out.

Great stuff Peter, you are owed a real debt by this Country for your dogged determination to see corruption defeated.

I believe you are absolutely right. If we can't trust the police to uphold the law, particularly in such a fundamental area as the democratic process, faith in them will be lost.

Part of the problem is this pc lunacy that seems to be infecting the police these days. I'll wager they were more concerned about being labelled "raaaacist" than with upholding the law.

I can't think of anything more insidious that taxes capital when there is no correlation to ability to pay.

Not only that but it would ensure that everyone who could afford to would leave the count, crash the property market and bring down the banks and building societies.

I think we all know that closing borders has nothing to do with Covid and everything to do with Macron upping the classic EU bully boy tactics. He would still rather cut off the french nose to spite it's face.
