Well, I was already going to write something about Coco Pommel anyway, eventually. Might as well give it a go tomorrow, as it's already 10 PM here and I don't have a good idea yet.

Welp, due to a lack of time, and feeling pretty crappy for the past few days, I wasn't able to participate in this :(

Oh well, I might just write something batpony-related anyway, and there's always next week. Also, 85 fics is really impressive! Seems like we have a lot more enthusiastic authors than I thought. Though I don't read fanfics anymore, I love seeing this much passion. Now I just hope everyone learned something through their work!

This... is a very weird poll. Not even all of the things listed in it are from the past year. For instance, most fanfics nominated for Best Fanfic of the Year haven't even been finished yet, or were written earlier :/

Nominating mods for best pony reference in a non-pony game shouldn't count, as it's a brony adding something to a non-pony game, nor did the game have any reference to ponies in the first place. Having Kirby as a pony-related meme is also nonsensical, as it falls under the combining two things category, which is as old as my grandma's grandma (I may have rounded up a little bit). Plus, some things having been nominated for both good and bad thing should've rung some alarm bells that those things miiiight be so heavily contested that you can't get a good idea through a community vote. Because the community isn't always the party that is the one that's best informed.

In fact, seeing half of those options makes me doubt the staff even seriously looked at the cohesion of the poll.

Awww yeeeaaah, a new writing event! I'm going to have to work my ass off for this. Sunday is almost over and I've got the entirety of monday already scheduled, so I'll have to write at high speeds on tuesday. Luckily, I already have an idea! :D

Oh, neato! I love seeing more talk about fanfiction. That is, whenever people can stop bashing it for the same reasons all the time. I'm not much of a reader myself, since reading fanfics gives me tons of ideas, and I already have too many ideas to work with. Plus, it kinda lost its edge for me. But let's see if I can remember some of the old ones I liked...

It's A Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door is pretty good, even though it has some problems regarding focus. It's well-written and mostly focuses on world-building, but the character development is nothing to sneeze at either. I thought the ending was a bit of a predictable cop-out, but hey, it meshed with the story just fine.

Another neat one is Antipodes. It's a good and tense adventure story, although it has relatively little to do with the show. As in, barely more than a couple of obvious references, but that aside, it's still nice. The ending is really, really abrupt though. It goes through the final confrontation, ending and epilogue in about one chapter.

Hmmm... What else? You know, most fics I read were from a long time ago, in ye olde ages before FiMFiction, so I don't have a way of tracking them. Nor do I remember names or anything. Back in the day, it was Cupcakes and Fallout: Equestria to get me into writing, but those two sure as hay aren't fit for everyone. Especially not that first one. FO:E is nice, but generally overrated, in my opinion.

This is such a major bummer. Calpain, I really liked you, your style, your attitude and your posts, and you were just a swell guy all-round, even though I've only had minimal interactions with you. Regardless, I'm going through some stress and anxiety issues of my own, so I can sorta imagine a little bit how it must feel. It's important you do what's best for your personal health, so I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide to do next!
