Can we really expect that to be the cost? Any of those? Medicaid costs almost $360 Billion a year to cover 60 million people. It would be realistic to assume the true cost of Obamacare would be the same per person as Medicaid (unless it's even worse coverage). Formulating Obamacare off that comparison provides a very difference look at the cost of the plan. That would make the whole program look like this:

Medicaid 10 yr. Cost...People Covered...Cost Per Person/Yr.
$3,596,491,228,000....60 million........$5,994.15
Obamacare Realistic 10 yr. Cost...People Covered...Cost Per Person/Yr.
$2,697,367,500,000......45 million................$5,994.15
Making:

Medicaid =
2.5 people per average family average/yr. cost.......Cost for family/month
$14,985.38........................................ ...........$1,248.78

Obamacare =
2.5 people per average family average/yr. cost.......Cost for family/month
$14,985.38........................................ ...........$1,248.78

That's more than the average private insurance family plan of less than $1,100 a month for better services.

I think America’s Healthcare System has problems but is Obamacare the right fix? Consider these numbers comparing Medicaid (an existing attempt at government healthcare) and the average private insurance:

Obamacare Proposed 10 yr. Cost...People Covered...Cost Per Person/Yr.
$611 Billion..............................45 million.....$1,357.78
$1 Trillion................................45 million.......$2,222.22
$1.6 Trillion..............................45 million......$3,555.56
Makes:

2.5 people per average family average/yr. cost.......Cost for family/month
$3,394.44......................................... ..........$282.87
$5,555.56......................................... ..........$462.96
$8,888.89......................................... ..........$740.74

Wake up the liberals! Get out to other forums, boards, blogs, etc. and share your feelings often. I've been trying to wake people up about Universal Healthcare with a simple poke for honest debate out there - - no takers.

See, when you question Obamacare for any reason (cost, control vs freedom, capitalism) the usual response is something like "you hate poor people" or "so you think the system is fine even though my neighbor had cancer and...." or my favorite "shut up and accept it since you Republicans don't have any other ideas for us."

But no open discussion about actually agreeing the cost is to high to open up the "other idea" debate (which I have great answers for). Here's one of my favorite starters in the next comment. It gives the indisputable facts that liberals can't refute so that they will hopefully read them, decide against universal care, and MAYBE open up rational discourse.

Disturbing Medicaid numbers - proof to me that the fed. gov't shouldn't run any insurance:

Currently about 60 million are enrolled in Medicaid which covers about 45% of the poor (as defined state-to-state) of which 76% are kids and their parents.

Cost is about $205 Billion to the Federal Gov’t who only foots 57% of the bill.

Adding 20 million people to this program as the current push would do, would raise the cost to about $273 billion or $3416.67 per person (which is $284.72/month), or $1423.61 to insure my family of 5 per month.

That doesn’t include the other 43% of the cost covered by the state (making my 5-person family actually cost $2497.56 a month to insure on Medicaid)!

I and my employer share a private cost of $642.88 a month for really good insurance.

That's 25% the cost of the current gov't program . . .

It used to be more than $900 a month. And the rate doesn't go up if I have another child . . .

Liberal reply - So they should let them be homeless?

Conservative reply - Unfortunately, yes. If the person cannot make their payments and cannot borrow from private industy or family/friends/churches/charities, it really isn't the government's job to step in. It just isn't.

Having the Federal Government step in is really just forcing ME to step in. I don't appreciate that. I have 13 siblings, 2 sets of parents, 3 sets of living grandparents, and hundreds of aunts and uncles and cousins between my wife's side of the family and mine (not to mention the friends who are as close as family). They can come to me for the little help I can provide if needed. That's already enough responsibility - it I don't have to be forced!

The real point I see is just that OldMarine. Don't make a UNIVERSAL change for scattered broken systems. It's like saying we need to build a new house because the basement shower is plugged, the entryway light is burnt out again, the garbage disposal is noisy, and the Master Suite toilet keeps clogging.

Maybe if we quit letting illegals use our basement shower free of charge, checked the entryway wiring, stopped letting the kids (politicians) throw whatever they like down the disposal, and change that floaty ball in the toilet (no analogy there - too tempting with toilets); maybe if we stopped those things the system would be different. But you don't buy a new house.

I see the US changing rapidly with the following driving factors:

1. Universal Healthcare
2. Privatizing Industry
3. Green Jobs

The result will be a massive polarizing of classes with a small upper class (mainly old money families and the uber-brilliant technology minds), a nearly extinct middle class (as we know it today), and an enormous lower class scrapping by on hatred of the rich and a hand out for another hand-out.

The making of "equal ground" for "everyone" through Healthcare and Green Jobs and taking over industries so they won't fail will lower everyone's standard of living together (except the political). It'll look a lot like Stalin's Russia but claiming to be pseudo-capitalist, pseudo-socialist.

While not the main focus at all of Book One, the Mutant Ranch series will be dealing with a lot of the simple social and political tactics used by the Left that have and will continue softening up our real world for thier agendas. The book is free, too!

Minor theme in the first book as it lays the groundwork for greater, deeper things.

Except those loans have been bought by FM or FM, so no problem. Yet another poke in the eye for those of us who didn't buy too much home for our budget.

Standard Incandescent Bulbs - $.44 to $.55 each for 60 Watt bulbs - 5,000 hour life.
Standard CFL Bulbs - $1.71+ each for 60 Watt equivalent bulbs - 10,000 hour life.
http://www.1000bulbs.com/

$4 Billion in energy savings across 120 million households is $33.33 a year per household.

I'll have paid at least $.61 more for each lightbulb over 10,000 hours (using $.55 vs $1.71) and have 63 lights in/on my average-sized house. That's $38.43 more in lightbulb costs . . . Did they offset that? If not, I lost $5.10 a year (times 120 million households is $612,000,000 out of American's pockets). And what will the cost of bulbs be once cheaper incandescents aren't available to compete? And will there be more fees for things like bulb disposal because of the mercury?

And a special box to sit between your trash and recycling bins on the street - - endangering everyone with the collection of mercury!
