TorrentFreak : MovieX BitTorrent Tracker VIP Donations 'Stolen'

I agree. There are plenty of private trackers out there that are functioning quite well without leeching from other trackers without the users of the other trackers knowing. MovieX isn't one of them, and I'm sure the bittorrent community will survive without it.

Yeah, that's a pretty low way of increasing speeds on the tracker... members benefit, Pirate Bay users lose since they can't download files from MovieX users.

TorrentFreak : Coda.fm - A Refreshing Music Torrent Site

Interesting concept, but I too agree that some not-so-mainstream music should be added as well. A variety of genres and some FLAC torrents and other varieties would benefit the site greatly. The site has a lot of potential, though, and I can see it growing and becoming better in the future. Unfortunately, that will also mean increased attention from the RIAA and the record labels, and I didn't verify this myself but another commenter said the website was hosted in the United States - if that's true, the future of the site may be bleak. Only time will tell. For now I think I'll continue to use private trackers which offer a greater variety of genres and music that doesn't play on American Top 40. ;)

TorrentFreak : uTorrent Grows to 28 Million Monthly Users

Do you really think if uTorrent was phoning home with any sensitive information that someone would not have discovered it by now and that news would spread across the internet like wildfire? I can name a lot of software that automatically checks for updates. It can be turned off as well if you don't want uTorrent to make any outside contact.

I think uTorrent is the best client hands-down. It has a very small footprint (uses a low amount of resources when running and only 250KB to download, some .torrent files are larger than that), it has many features like labels and scheduler which I find very useful, it's supported and recommended by pretty much every private tracker on the internet, it's now available in beta for Mac, everything about it is great. I'm not so happy about the Bittorrent Inc. acquisition and what could come of that in the future, but that's another thought for another day.

TorrentFreak : Australian Web and BitTorrent Filtering Scheme Delayed

It amazes me how the government always finds convenient ways to waste money on things like a filter for the internet (as if Australia and the world doesn't have more important issues) but for things that people need or care about, there isn't enough money. Why not put the millions of dollars wasted in this into education, health care, infrastructure... something that has a purpose? With Stephen Harper and the Conservatives in power here in Canada, I fear that we'll be seeing this here soon. That, and the new copyright law and that stupid bill that was supposed to make unlocking your GSM cell phone illegal. Ahh government. You never cease to amaze me.

TorrentFreak : New George Michael Track Survives on The Pirate Bay

Why isn't the link to the torrent on The Pirate Bay in the article? I'd understand if it were a link to something that was copyrighted but this is a free and legal download and it's strange how the article is dedicated to it yet it doesn't have a link for people to download it. :|

I agree. The music, movie and game industry needs to wake up and embrace these wonderful new technologies that arise instead of continuing on with years-old business models.
