I am married to a hispanic man and my kids are obviously hispanic. I cringe hoping that who ever has done something bad is not hispanic because it puts a bad rap on all the hardworking hispanic honest hispanic people in this country illegal or not. I was right there just after the accident happened. "Patterson", as my daughter and her friends called him, was a great teacher. He went out of his way to connect with his students. My daughter always talked about him highly and he was the only teacher that she went out of her way to make sure that I met. He even came to one of my daughters ballet performances. You don't hear of teacher reaching out like that anymore. My heart aches for his family. This is a tragic and horrible loss for the for everyone that knew him and especially for the students who he was such a role model for. It is time to focus on the people who need help with the grief of this loss rather than rallying everyone against the mexican community of which I am a part of.
