WLFI.com | Lafayette, Indiana Headlines, Weather and Video : Federal Judge Allen Sharp dies

We were friends ever after that, at IUSB, at Fitness USA (where he would combine racy jokes with legal trivia questions while I was trying to lift weights!), and when we would get together sometimes. When he was hospitalized, we shared books, magazines and newspaper articles, as well as questions he asked me that would (of course) require me to go home and research before I could come the next day and answer them! God Bless Judge Allen Sharp. He is now entertaining the great minds throughout history with his knowledge and biting, clever humor. You will be badly missed sir! - Ted Pethick

Allen Sharp was my teacher, my friend, and an inspiration. I met him as his student, and once he found out that I knew a lot of historical and legal trivia, was he easier on me? Exactly the opposite! I had to work harder, write better, and listen more carefully than any other student. He would always ask me 1st to answer a public question, and look out if I didn't know the answer! Once I had the temerity to visit him in his chambers and complain about all the extra work he was putting me through. His answer to me? "Nobody promised you a rose GARDEN!" (his emphasis)
