Over the last two monts 27,00 stood strong for the 2,000 in jeopardy. It was a worthy victory. The rest of the contract gave the other 25,000 absolutely nothing other that staying on an even keel. We completely lost the lump sum because of the lost wages of the last two months. It was worth it because I know so many of the people who were in jeopardy of loosing their jobs. My opinion is that in another two or three weeks you would have seen a vastly different contract offered. Deja Vu 1995. But I cannot really blame all of the Naieve new hires for caving. You will lear. Though... Most of you will be gone in three years most likely. That is how Boeing operates...

Yes... "Members" who cross the picket line are not allowed to vote on the contract. When you cross the picket line you automatically remove yourself from the Union. so... You are no longer a "Member". If you are not part of the Union, then you cannot vote. There will be no voting card waiting for you at the balloting area.

I was not trying to frighten anyone with my comment. It is just advice you might want to heed if you have never experienced this potential situation. Just a thought. We had people come to us from Northwest Airlines and their past labor dispute behavior followed them to Boeing. If you have already been at Boeing for a couple of strikes, then there is no need to explain anything to you. It was advice for the new people... I was on the picket line with people that went directly from hire in Orientation straight to the picket line. I am sure that many of them are in dire straights financially. However, for those who cross, whatever your financial situation may be... However bad... I am sorry. I am hurting also. But... I guarantee that there are people in worse binds who stay out and they will not be very sympathetic. I heard that the caught nine scabs trying to vote in Monroe today...

Comdep... If you think that the "Boeing Company" is a lot smarter than any one of us Union Employee's, then take a quick walk through the 787 line and decide for yourself after that. See what the result of their thoughts of building an aircraft with all new people, new ideas, new software for tracking jobs and problems on the plane, etc... No wire numbers on the the wiring except at the connector ends?? Boeing it truly brilliant... You are correct...

Just a thought strutguy and the other person who said "See you at work Monday" I am assuming that you only mean this is going to happen if the contract passes. Because I can assure you that if you cross, everyone else will know and it will be like a very big tattoo on your forehead for the rest of your life. It follows people to other companies.... The SCAB word...

The bottom line that so many of you seem to be missing is that Boeing is going to make you job go away completely if they have the opportunity. They are patient. They just chip away a little each contract. In 1995 there were 54,000 IAM represented employees. Today, after hiring 7,00 to 9,00 new people in the last two year not to mention the addition of rockwell, Douglass etc... We are only 27,000. We have already been cut in HALF! If you voted yes today, you just gave away a lot of money because you lost all of your wages from the last two months by accepting the exact same contract you originally voted down except for a flipping dollar in retirement?? The extra gas that will buy might just get your car out the gate when Boeing offloads your job the next contract...

If you voted yes on the contract then you have completely wasted your last two months of standing in the rain and wind. They didn't even bother to try and shuffle the numbers around. You just voted for even less than you would have gotten had you voted for the original contract because you have lost two months wages. The only positive is that we, 27,000 who stood strong potentially saved the jobs of from 1800 to 220 of our fellow Union workers.
