I know, it has some errors. Sorry, it's an old post when I was just playing around with JavaScript.

Thanks for the comment and the retweet. I still have to do a sitemap for this site, but since Google seems to find everything with ease, I'm not to stressed about that.

Thanks, Timethief. The re-design was something I did about a week ago, this time I was actually just fiddling with the blog app itself. It is hard to leave it alone, I guess - there are always things that can be improved.

As you may know, I built Sandcurves basically to test out everything I was doing while building See Namibia. So, Sandcurves was a toy from the beginning. I was just running this blog for fun. But when I stuck on Analytics I realized that I've got way more traffic here (mostly to the Django tutorial, but the blog is gaining ground - thank to people like you). So I thought I'll push this one, but I want to keep it fun. If I can monetize that fun down the line, awesome.

Yes, that's the thing, there is always something else you think you could stick up there. I widened the sidebar to accommodate the new stuff I put in there. You know, I did so much looking around at everyone's sidebars to write this post that instead of accomplishing my goal of having less stuff, I got SIDEBAR ENVY and now have 100 more things I want in there. The joke, thanks. It's true though. I think most good traffic blogs don't bother with Adsense anymore, usually it is something you do in desperation, when you have 8 people bouncing (as apposed to reading) a day. I'd get about 1/350 click/visits - and it's someone you've then lost. Many people reveal their stats when they are starting to cook. But nobody is honest about their numbers when they suck.

Thanks akudonix. Where's your poem. Thanks Tristan - I don't think you'll see much more poetry from me, but some of the comment people leave are funny. Makes me feel like doing something funny, like write poetry. Oh, and when your blog does hit the mega bucks, and you come visit Namibia, these are the guys who do the rock climbing excursions - http://www.scarab.com.na/

Thanks, I was just having fun. After visiting a few blogs in a row, and finding really lengthy comment that didn't say something on each of them, I though I'd get poetic about it. As soon as I published it, I went over to read this: http://www.trafficgenerationcafe.com/ways-to-make... and found this great comment: "This is a awesome post Ana with A lot of value Like Always girl. I love the way you look A things Ana, Thanks A Million for sharing." Funny thing, it was a guest post - Ana didn't write it at all.

Thanks, Jay. I love making up names. My company is called Frantic Naturalist, which in the right circles has also been good (well, good being relative... ) I've had the domain for a while and it has been through a few re-births, but now I am really going for it. Followed you on Twitter, and I look forward to seeing how you get on with your plans.<div style="display: block; margin: 6px 0pt 0pt;"><a class="a2a_dd" href="http://www.addtoany.com/share_save"><img src="http://static.addtoany.com/buttons/share_save_171_16.png" alt="Share/Save/Bookmark" height="16" width="171" border="0">

Make A Living Writing : How I Make $5,000 a Month as a Paid Blogger

I'm aware of the 'how people read on the Internet' studies - as Jacob Nielson wrote "They don't". But my personal favorite blogs include things like Copyblogger and, when he still wrote stuff, Doshdosh, as well as various science blogs that go into great detail, such as 'Observations of a nerd' at Scienceblogs. Honestly, if I'm subscribed to a blog and it starts to become just short 10 liners, I usually unsubscribe. Of course, I don't read much of that stuff when I'm just browsing - I bookmark and read later. I hear what you are saying, and perhaps I've got to do some testing. I'll try first with splitting.
Hey Carol, 58 posts, that really is a lot. "I know how to stick my finger down my throat and throw up a post", I guess you sure do. I find it hard to keep posts short. I guess if you are posting for money, you've got to keep it short and quick.
http://sandcurves.com/ : Doing It Passionately

Thanks. As far as the Google stats, I know that as traffic grows (which it is rapidly at the moment), those times will go down. At the moment a lot of the visitors to my blog are bloggers whose blogs I've commented on (like you and Tristan), and the stuff I write is directly relevant to you. Hopefully my readership will get a little broader, and I'll pay the price. But for now, I'm happy with it. On all the other blogs I've had (or still have), cracking 1 minute was a challenge. Because I wrote a tutorial (for which I also rate high in Google - 'Django Blog Engine Tutorial') I get a lot of people visiting that, which I know gives me some numbers, but whichever way I break it down, people are reading, and that's awesome.

Thanks for that Tristan. Spot on. I must say, I'll hide my head in shame a little regarding being unique - It's a goal rather than something I've achieved. But I'll get there. It's constantly on my mind.
