To be honest, at this point I wouldn't mind if Starlight entirely replaced Twilight. Twilight's character development seems to have reached a dead end and It would be interesting to see another character take the spotlight.

I'm not surprised how popular Moon Dancer is since she's basically a clone of season 1 Twilight. I however chose Tree Hugger.

And for part 3 it's hard to choose between Minuette, Marble Pie, and Coloratura.

What stands out as improving for me is the continuity. Season 5 referenced past episodes so much, that didn't happen often in previous seasons.
