You pretty much hit the nail on the head and deserve tasty cookies or something. That's what I'm hoping for, and that's what I'm asking for. If, in the end, Blizzard handles it in the way that Playonline/Steam have as far as the ability to be invisible to everyone when you want to be, then my concerns are alleviated and the rest I can live with. That's the big issue to me, and not everyone feels the same way and I understand that. I love my friends, most of them are really great people and they're fun to talk to and play with and all that, but sometimes I'll want to be left alone while I'm gaming AND at the same time I'll feel like playing one of my other Blizzard games.

Is it? My bank forces me to change my password every month if I wish to use web banking. My bank account is protected by a PIN and password which only I know and after three failed login attempts will permanently lock me out of web banking until proof of identity is provided, the answer to three security questions are provided as well as my PIN. My WoW account does have the added security layer of an authenticator though. I DO take my security seriously, whether it's for my WoW account or my bank account, but I don't recall saying that security was at all a worry for me with this battle.net system.

Never anywhere did I say "Wow nobody should use Battle.net." This is my list of concerns, your mileage may vary and everybody else is free to like or dislike what they please. I'm never in any way telling anyone to start some mass protest against "The Man" or anything. I merely listed MY reasons for not liking the system, and I listed that one of the system's main selling points wasn't relevant to my interests. Perhaps I should have labeled that one separately from the rest.

I really don't think it's antisocial to want to play a game without being bothered by people in another game. Especially considering how not enough details are out about how the system is going to work. Maybe it's going to work like Steam where people on your Battle.net friend list will be able to see what you're up to and nobody else will, and that will be perfectly fine with me, so long as there is an option, like Steam, to be invisible to EVERYBODY. Which Blizzard hasn't said one way or another yet unless I've overlooked something. If I've got the free time to be playing a video game and I'm playing one game instead of another game it's because I don't want to play that other game, and unlike some people I realize that it's a game which is for fun, and while I would be perfectly reasonable to respond to a request to come play a different game with "I'm sorry I'd rather play this game at the moment, I don't feel like that game." a lot of people wouldn't take that very well. So, invisible mode! :o

The whole thing about account-wide banning is actually the most minor of all the things I listed. As one of my friends informed me I'm not generally the type of person that has to worry about such things, but if you head on over to the customer service forums you'll see a large amount of people who claim to have been wrongly banned, and while I have no way of ever knowing how many of them are telling the truth and how many are feebly attempting to pull the wool over Blizzard's eyes I do have to look out for myself and accept the fact that it's a possibility that something like that could in-fact happen to me.

"Considering that point 1, which you mention, is inaccurate sensationalist BS, you'll be merging both WoW accounts into one unified BNet account then, yes?" - No, because there would be no benefit to me, other than the ability to click the "Remember Username" checkbox.

I really have no idea where this security issue thing came from. I'm really not worried about the security of my account. I've got a strong password that I change regularly (Though it would be stronger if it were case sensitive, which WoW passwords are not. Last I checked.), I've got an authenticator, and I've got safe browsing habits. Nor do I believe that merging your account increases/decreases your likelihood of getting your account "stolen" - So that's one tinfoil hat that I'm not wearing. And I actually agree in a sense in that I get a little irked by people blaming Blizzard for they themselves being careless with their account details.

The fact of the matter is that very little can be said for certain at this particular junction due to most of the details of the future battle.net system not being set in stone yet and not even having been announced to us, the end users, yet. So whether it will or will not have a certain feature is purely speculation at this point, but now is a great time for people to raise their concerns and ask questions and make suggestions, rather than when the final product is released to us. Blizzard doesn't hire mind readers afaik, so it's our job as their customer base to raise any questions and concerns that we have. Which is what I'm doing. I've asked questions on the official forums, I've contacted Blizzard directly, and I posted this here. Not that the latter actually helps as far as Blizzard goes, but it does put my thoughts out there.

Everyone's concerns are going to be a little bit different, and these are mine. If people disagree with them, it's not a worry. As two people pointed out the achievement thing is important to some people, with good reason, believe me I understand that "re-rolling" and having to start over achievement-wise sucks. I did it just before WotLK came out, and I imagine it would suck more for anyone that's done it more recently than that. To some people that's an important thing, and the other things are not. To me that's not an important thing, but the other things are.

TLDR: Details of the system aren't finalized yet, we've not been given concrete details on most aspects of it, now is the time to raise questions and concerns.

1) I assume that because they stated that eventually that is their intention though I don't recall whether it was a blue post on a forum or something they said at Blizzcon. I believe that the logic behind it was if they do it that way it'll keep the service cleaner.

3) That's a pretty good point. Though they might assume that I don't even play the game, which would be what I'm hoping for, best case scenario kind of thing and maybe leave it out of their troll.

4) I hadn't heard about that, but I'll keep my eyes open for information about that. Blizzard generally isn't very understanding when it comes to wanting to avoid a group of friends for a bit though. They've stated that they never want to add an invisible feature to WoW like many other MMOs have because it's against the spirit of the game, so I'm unsure on the likelihood of them adjusting their stance on that for the battle.net system. They did say they want it to be a massive social networking thingy.

5) You can, and I would, but it largely depends on the privacy options that I'm waiting for them to announce. If you're right and they do infact allow you to prevent people from seeing you, and it's handled in a way that would allow me to "hide" on my one WoW account and not the other, I'd be all for it.

Not having to keep track of CD-keys IS a huge plus, and one of the things that I actually like about the battle.net system, but thankfully I'll be able to do that with my separate battle.net accounts as well. :)

Problems #1 and #4 are what make that impossible for me, unfortunately. :(

Pretty bummed about that too. Though I'm still going to buy D3. It's still going to be totally awesome, just .... less awesome. And will probably not keep me playing as long as D2 did.

Sooo glad to see that I'm not the only person that thinks the way I do when it comes to Battle.net! :D

I actually have my game settings set somewhere in the middle for just about everything, texture settings set as high as they can go, shadows and full screen glow turned off. Particles turned all the way up though, which does make it interesting in combat from time to time with everything from Paladins/DKs being so big and shiny.

*sings*
There's a zombie on your lawn!
There's a zombie on your lawn!
We don't want zombies on the lawn.
I know your type, tall dark and dead! You want to bite all the petals off my head and eat the brains of the one that planted me here! I'm just a sunflower but see me power an entire infantry, you like the taste of brains but we don't like zombies!

I mean ... ummm. >.> Yeah so Plants vs Zombies is a great game.

Mimiron was quite challenging, so I haven't really been so happy about a kill for a long time either. I can only imagine that it's even more thrilling for you all since you've actually worked on him prior to yesterday. :)
