Doberman Dan : How To Make MILLIONS In The Guru Business

Dan, To answer your questions in a nutshell, I think most people who buy IM stuff are looking for get rich quick, but those who are serious about building a business are interested in what really works. The challenge, as you said, is that what really works isn't sexy or shiny. I think you can make money teaching what really works. I suspect, however, that it will be a much slower build to large profitability because you'll have to rely more on people telling other people (not just emailing their lists) that they need to buy your materials. Having said that, I think you will have a much longer life-cycle with your customers than the gurus because, hey, you'll be building a real business and not a flash in the pan marketing launch. Just my two dollars (inflation, you know)... - John

Doberman Dan : Copywriting Copycats

Dan, Freaking awesome post. Got me thinking and mulling this over. And making me want to make use of my membership in this:http://www.premiumplayalongs.com/ (okay, I'm a bass player. So sue me!). Thanks for writing one of the few blogs I take the time to read. :-) - John

Doberman Dan : A Little Used But POWERFUL Marketing Secret

Dan, Hope y'all are doing better. Was watching your vid on this post, and I got to thinking that this could be part of why knowing your target market, their language, their catch phrases, their wants and needs is so powerful and effective in marketing and copywriting. It makes the prospect feel (maybe on an unconscious level) that you've been listening to them. They feel understood. Maybe there is a bit of psychological relief as they read your sales letter that they are not alone. And, by the way, not only do I understand you and your situation, I have a solution for it, too. :-) Thanks for the youtube challenge. It's been some great stuff. Still praying for y'all. - John

Doberman Dan : Doberman Dan's Secret For Learning To Write Killer Copy

Dan, Nice playing, and good advice, too. Obviously, that's a 335 of some sort. Gibson or some other make? Nice tone and finish on that one. - John P.S. What is it with copywriters being musicians? Hey, I'll play bass with you and Carlton and Fortin. :-)

Doberman Dan : Free Yourself From Slavery

Dan, The Richest Man in Babylon is a brilliant book. I've read it a few times. Even bought the unabridged audio (it's dirt cheap in audio: <a href="http://www.booksamillion.com/product/978141934999..." target="_blank">http://www.booksamillion.com/product/978141934999... Another great book is The Millionaire Mind. Tom Stanley (one of the co-authors of The Millionaire Next Door) studied the thinking patterns of deca-millionaires and distilled them in this book. Both The Millionaire Next Door and The Millionaire Mind espouse being frugal and being end-cost conscious instead of focusing on can I afford the payment. Great, great stuff, and, I suspect, in the coming economic times, will be keys to people who don't starve as opposed to people who do. - John
