KCRG : Megabus Sells 20,211 Tickets In 3 Months | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather |

To quote Monty Python, "And now for something completely different" I do not believe that Megabus can be blamed for society's ills. I would like to see a reasoned explanation with supporting facts from these people that show that any rise in gang activity, citizens on welfare, or drug arrests, coming from people on Megabus. As it asked for in the article (not that I would expect them to read), I have taken Megabus from Iowa City to Chicago and return. The departure was a little confusing and we ended up being the last people to board. My two friends and I were not able to sit together and the single level bus was sold out. The bus seemed to be an old charter bus (Megabus is operated by CoachUSA in the United States), and had an annoying rattle in the rear left. On the return, we were on a bus of the double-decker variety and it was a pleasant ride with a great driver. The one caution that I would have is do not expect them to be on-time. The bus tends to be 10-15 minutes late each way, in my experience. I would definitely do Megabus again.

GazetteOnline.com : Time runs out on saving historic immigrant cottages in Cedar Rapids

For those that forgot to comprehend the article, Mr. Hunter called these homes a top preservation priority just after the 2008 floods. So to say that this was too late, really? I think we really need a plan of what to keep, and what to discard as we move forward. One that should be widely available, and should be referenced easily. I might even be for putting different plans to a vote of the citizens.

Dear Tyler, Thank you for working so hard at your art. You make me proud to forever be a Cougar! Thanks also to Mr. Yuska and the rest of the fine and performing arts teachers for showing your students that they can be successful and have a creative outlet. This story is just another example of why we need to keep the arts in schools.

KCRG : Crews Begin Constructing Freedom Festival Haunted House | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports

1. You are correct. Frightmare Forest Productions announced last year they were moving to a downtown location. So this is the outcropping of that effort. 2. For those who love to say this isn't news. It is the first time that something like an off-season haunted house has opened in Cedar Rapids in anyone's memory, and for those looking for something to do, it IS NEWS. Besides, if you don't like it, don't watch. They told you what it was at the outset, and you watched anyway.

So, I was interested in adopting the dog pictured in the poster above. It was at that time, that I found out that dog was very aggressive toward men. There was simply no place for that dog to go. I am sorry to see that was its fate, but I cannot say that it was surprising. I have heard too many horror stories from several different people about how the animals were treated, the condition of the facility, and the rest. I believe the board acted in the best interest of the organization.

GazetteOnline.com : Corbett leads in web poll for Cedar Rapids mayor

I am still undecided, but I have been watching this poll, and something strikes me. As of earlier this afternoon, Mr. Fagan and Mr. Corbett were separated by approximately 60 votes, each with more than 700. Now, Mr. Corbett has nearly 1300 while Mr. Fagan has just over 800. This means that more than 600 people voted in the last several hours with Mr. Corbett getting 80% of them, when things were nearly split evenly before that. It just doesn't seem right.
