Indeed, Elastagirl embodies everything feminists hate about conservative women. Capable, intelligent, and willingly sacrificing for her children and husband, rather than herself and her own fulfillment. Call her kind of a feminist anti-hero. Had that movie been made by a feminist, Elastagirl would have left the repressive life to go find herself, leaving Mr. Incredible and kids to fend for themselves.

Naaah, you're right, far far better to present a feminist hero in total fantasy, where they can truly embody the fantasy world most feminists live in :)

Not too many stories in the ancient period had happy endings for all involved, but that doesn't mean you can't make a good movie (Sparticus seems a good example of this). Any time you set a film in pre-modern times you are going to have to deal with things which would horrify and/or outrage a modern audience. You can sanitize this (Disney route), or you can pick the villians and heros, and focus on the bad of one and good of the other, simply by telling the truth in selevtive ways. Hollywood does this all the time.

Female warriors were one of the first signs of the gradual feminist takeovers of the fantasy genre. I hope this isn't the sign of a trend. An archer, yet. Not too many female archers in ancient Scotland, for obvious reasons. Couldn't they have done a movie based on Queen Boudicca, instead?

Big Hollywood : 'Bad Teacher' Review: Bad Movie Wastes Good Cast

Taking the movie's quality out of it, let's examine the premise: Skanky s lut getting desparate to bag a husband who can take care of her, finds her opportunities fading as fast as her youth, realizes she must rely on her virtue to get the man instead, and of course fails miserably, having no practice in this. Sounds like the perfect modern woman portrayal, in my experience. The only thing better is to show the beautiful yet reseved classmate she used to scorn show up with her ex-fiance, sporting classy clothes, a ring, and 2 beautiful kids in an SUV living in a mansion. Diaz realizes her mistakes have lead to this moment, smokes more pot, and weeps...

The libertarians who describe themselves as agnostic/atheistic are some of the few, which are excepted from the "most" I refer to above. Libertarians are usually anti-nationalist as well, but most are practical enogh to recognize that their views are not practical for society as a whole. You are indeed correct about your second paragraph as far as removing under God would not lead directly to nationalism, but my larger point is when you remove belief in God from a critical mass of people you get a population which needs something else to believe in, which historically has been Nationalism. Removing "Under God" is not the end, but just a step in the process by atheists, the result of which will likely not be pleasent.

Not related to "The Office" but generally it's easily observable that when you take the belief in God away from people, it gets replaced by Nationalism. Most conservatives are nationalists, but religion tempers it. Many liberals claim to love America and want God out of it, but when you look at their actions they really show zero interest in America as a nation, and are more appropriately considered athestic communists, who are also not nationalists. The real problem with the liberal agenda of getting God out of everything is what will follow isn't a sociasts utopia, but more likely a nationalist nightmare. Taking "Under God" out of the POA wouldn't do this all by itself, of course, but then they don't want to stop there, do they?

Big Hollywood : Make Culture, Not Think Tanks

Wow, you didn't read my post, did you, where i point out that there is an antipathy towards POPULAR ENTERTAINMENT and you misrepresent this as "the arts" which is really not the same thing. If you try to refute arguments, please refute what I'm actually saying rather than the straw man you imagine, it's usually more effective. Furthermore, though there were more conservatives in the past than the present, they were not generally Christian but Jewish (Mayer) or their consevative leaning were quite exaggerated (Ford). Of course the very image shown above of It's a Wonderful Life as an example of anti-conservative was made before the 60s, which you cite as the turning point from conservative and to liberal.

Shhhhh! The only reason Stewie is so successful an activist is if he couldn't hide behind his "I'm just a comedian" mask, he'd have to defend his whacko beliefs, which whould show who is truly irrational (him). Far, far easier and more effective to ridicule than to offer a thoughtful alternative. Of course he's dishonest about what he is and what his message is, no effective liberal is honest!

Conservative culture is generally embedded in churches on Sundays, which have a cultural and historic antipathy towards popular entertainment in general and theater in particular going back to at least St. Augustine that I know of, and continuing on through Charles Spurgen and to this day. Though some conservatives can and do work in the biz, generally they shy away from it. Whether good or ill, this will not change. I suppose that athestic type conservatives might give it a try, but the best way to combat liberal hollywood is to push back where the conservative message will be heard. Too many churches of every denomination have bowed down to the liberal lies and have turned their backs on God, and thereby provide no counterweight to their members constant bombardment from popular culture. Only by embracing your faith with both arms without apology or shame can you hope to make a difference.

I propose we start a Christian bullying program, as it's worked so well for the GLADD and CAIR. From now on, we will target, separate, and marginalize those who in any way say anything which offends us. We will start with the most extreme examples, and once we have shown our power with them, we will move the goalposts, little by little, until by the time our children are grown, even cursing in public will be equivalent to saying all Christians should be fed to lions. I say this in jest knowing that if Christians were so radical as these, it would probably happen. There's a lot more Christians than gays or Muslims in this country, but generally speaking we're more polite, tolerant and accepting than they are.

"The image of Ed Helms grinning is a face that begs for a beating, not because he looks like an idiot, but because we’re obviously supposed to feel like superior beings upon seeing it. As though seeing a DVD box with the face of a naïve man-child is supposed to attract me, so I can feel superior to some fictitious character today. " You just summarized Ed Helms' entire career.
What would you nominate as the worst superhero movie ever? I think it would have to be a big budget movie, as they have higher expectations, so with that as the only caviat, I would nominate "Batman and Robin" as a movie so horribly bad, it killed the franchise. I could go on and on about the recycled characters, the horribly miscast Silverstone, the stunts which had by this time become ridiculous, the 2 dimentional villans, but you all know about that already. It was a movie which was not only painful to watch, it was boring (which was worse). I can't think of a worse, and that includes all the Superman movies, even the one with Richard Prior.
