I used to work for a hedge fund when this hit the fan (no, i did not work as an accountant of banker, that was not my job.) Everyone wanted the gov't to pump in funds to make sure everything would stay solid. I questioned that logic using this comparison: if I pay with my credit card, i will need to pay that money back eventually and if I wait too long I could end up owing more. How are we going to pay this money back?

Also, if places are going to go bankrupt, isn't the capitalist system designed so that other companies would arise from the ashes? The strong will remain strong if they adapt while the weak will be cast aside if they cannot or choose not to adapt?

I was assured that this was temporary and the next year, '09, they can get people to reinvest in the stock market. It was a band-aid.

3 weeks later, Obama was elected President.

3 weeks after that, myself and a number of other people, including the ones who told me this was temporary, were laid off.

Getting the gov't to step in ALWAYS MESSES THINGS UP!!!

earlier this spring, I started going back to church with my daughter. I felt something was brewing inside of me that needed to get back to my basic principles and get ready for something coming down the road. This year has been proving it over and over again. That something is coming, and it is from the east. it is infiltrating our lives. it is trying to remove what has made this country so great. It has infiltrated the collective conscience when I see how our "leaders" are responding to our enemies.

We need to stand vigilant my friends!!!!! God be with us!

Yep, that is worse. I think most, if not all, of the people on these boards have been called that to one degree or another. All without any evidence except that we do not like where this president and congress is going.

Do as I say, not as I do. That's the Progressive way! I've been called racist because I did not agree with President Obama's agenda. Here's how that one went:

Guy: You're a racist because you haven't liked one single thing Obama has done!!! You don't want a black man in the White House do you?!?!?!

Me: NO, he just plain sucks! Black, white, whatever; he sucks! He can't do the job. End of story.

I walked away after that because what else can you say? To be called something I am not and to have no discernible way to prove it otherwise placed a really bad taste in my mouth. No matter how much we use the facts to prove the points, the left uses race as the ultimate "smart bomb." (for all you Defender fans out there)

I reckon these journalists are figuring that if they spout out these platitudes endorsing Progressivism, they will reap the power and the rewards that come with it, to the detriment of the rest of us. That is their big payback: spout the line, be good foot soldiers and claim your piece of the pie for being "loyal." Except their piece of the pie will be controlling the information which is what these Progressive journalists crave over everything else.

Somewhere between zip, zero and nada. I am not holding my breath for any of the major networks or newspapers to say anything.

For this argument, let us put LeBron James in the category of "brand" or "corporation." If he wants to get the most mileage out of his brand, he wants to be in the place where not only will he get the exposure and a shot at a championship. Thus his net worth of the LeBron james brand goes up.

BUT he is also a businessman and while Cleveland may have put up some impressive numbers, I am sure his accountants were showing him all the figures and in the end how much he would be taking home for LeBron Inc. did make a huge difference. How many people are in his employ? How much will his agent get? How much in taxes would he need to fork over? Will the team build around him? How much in the spotlight does he really want to be? Championship or not, the name LeBron james will have a meaning like Kobe, Shaq, Bird, Magic and any other player/brand you can think of in any sport.

If I were in his shoes, with many other factors we don't know about, I would've taken Miami, even if Chicago was an almost sure thing for getting a ring.

I just think LeBron, as a brand has a lot more going for him as a brand than a lot of athletes. he made the right decision.

I want to see a LEADER!!!! A calm, cool, collected, in-the-know, sure-of-him/herself, never-give-up-never-surrender, best-for-the-country, pave-the-way, "i-got-your-back", non-campaign-mode-24/7 LEADER!!!

This is NOT WHO HE IS!!!

Is that too much to ask? I'd given up on this guy a long time ago.

All style and no substance. I really have no idea what else she brought to the table. did she write a memorable expose'? Ask that one question which started to topple a presidency? Was she a go to person that all the young reporters looked to emulate?

All I remember are 2 things: 1) she, for some reason, always got in the first question at a press conference and 2) W pushed her back to the third row for one of his press conferences.
