Big Hollywood : Monthly Music Roundup: June 2011

So glad to see someone taking the piss outta Arcade Fire, the most overrated band of the decade, and this is coming from someone who is middle of the road when it comes to Radiohead. The Bon Iver record is fantastic. The Peter Gabriel/Sting/Steve Winwood/Chicago styled soft-rock album closer 'Beth/Rest' should be terrible, but it makes me wanna cry. I was not crazy about 'The Age of Adz', but the comparison is not far off. More music columns!

NewsReal Blog : The Top 7 Horror Movies for Conservatives

You can't forget David Cronenberg's "The Brood". It's the darkest of all possible satires of the 70's navel gazing self-help crowd and a comment on the then-relatively-new divorce culture's destructive impact on children, which is its overarching theme. Plus, it's legitimately scary, has some truly creepy moments, and is not for the squeamish!

Big Journalism : Wallowing in Bias at NYU J-School

Sacco has been up to these shenanigans for years. He has made fun of Hasidim in Israel, but has a knack for avoiding shining a light on the perversely extreme elements of islamism at the same time.

Big Hollywood : George W. Bush-by-Proxy Syndrome

Please don't think I'm implying GWB didn't win fair & square (he did), but that really galvanized the left, whether they had a legit reason to feel gypped or not . I thought it was interesting in 2004, when the crazy GWB hate was really at its apex, he put a good old-fashioned beat down on Kerry. The haters were focused like a single, white hot laserbeam at the time.

I'm 36 and distinctly remember the left's attempts marginalize Reagan by saying he was unintelligent or even senile. The next whipping boy was Dan Quayle, with "You're no Jack Kennedy.", potato(e)gate, and his remarks about Murphy Brown. I would guess that the GWB hatred stemmed from a "perfect storm" of the Florida/Supreme Court decision, 9/11 truthism, hurricane Katrina, and the rise of Michael Moore.
