Too bad we don't have the same law as other states where if a person is killed in the act of committing a crime, any surviving accomplices are charged with murder. Hard to believe he only got 10 years.

I agree that you have to do the research on where they are manufactured, what's in them, etc. But I suspect the real reason they are banned in Oregon is because the state does not want to lose the tax revenue.

I find it ironic that the Federal Government will enforce federal marijuana laws for which the states have OKed and the dispensaries pay taxes but won't touch immigration in which the states have to pay the cost of education and providing free medical treatment and yet the illegals pay no taxes. What is wrong with this picture; with our country?

KATU - Portland, OR : Consumer Reports ranks the hot gift this year: ebook readers | KATU.com - Portland News, Sports, Tra

I think you misread – the backlit LCD can display color but is difficult to read outdoors. "Most of the readers, including the Kindle and the Nook, use e-ink technology, which is only black and white. Others use a backlit LCD screen, like a laptop does. They can display color and, unlike e-ink, you won't need a light to read them in the dark. But they are almost impossible to read outdoors. On the other hand, the e-ink screens are almost like reading a real book."

KATU - Portland, OR : Doubling of Ore. budget deficit has officials scrambling | KATU.com - Breaking News, Sports, Traffic

Sunshine Review reports that the "all funds budget" was $51.2 billion in 2007-09 and increased to $55.9 billion in 2009-11, a nine percent increase. When businesses and individuals in Oregon are being responsible and cutting spending in this tough economy, Oregon Government increases its spending and raises taxes by $750 million. When is Oregon Government going to start acting responsibly? When are we the voters going to stop rubber stamping all the tax increases? I'm getting tired of the "Our schools will suffer" argument in order to justify year after year tax increases for a Government that has obviously failed at fiscal responsiblity. The only way to stop the spending is to stop giving them money. Vote NO on all up-coming tax increases, regardless of what they are.

KATU - Portland, OR : Beaverton man falls off MAX platform, narrowly avoids being killed | KATU.com - News - Portland, Ore

I have never understood why subways (including Maxx) do not have railings on the platforms with spaces where the train doors open. Wouldn't this prevent accidents like this or the one back east a couple months ago where a stroller rolled away from a mother and fell over the ledge onto the tracks? It's not rocket science...

I don't have any issue with this guy donating his organs. I'm just wondering how viable the organs will be after they inject lethal drugs into his system. Perhaps I don't understand the science. Can anyone with a medical background shed some light?
