Mark: are you going to have the time to visit the Gay Museum (Schwules Museum http://www.schwulesmuseum.de/en/exhibitions/view/... ) in Berlin? They have just opened a Show about Gay history on Friday, in the prestigious German Historical Museum. http://www.dhm.de/en/ausstellungen/homosexuality-...

I heard that TPerrys reaction to these ads was to switch publishers.
This German publisher of paperbacks has always had ads, either about federal investment papers or recently about Maggi - but they are always noticeable as ads, because they are on a seperate page (and thus can be ripped out easily) and start with a few black lines.

I always thought this was in reference to real-world hype of subliminal advertising, which purports to work by flashing messages to quick for the conscious mind. It was even used in one Columbo episode. Later, it turned out (luckily) to have been made-up by the ad. agency (although there is some subliminal effect, it is too weak for direct mind-control.

Mark, the Help plan the tour post http://markreads.net/reviews/2015/01/help-plan-th... hasn't had active comments in the last weeks. Is this the place to give Feedback, Information and help from us to you for booking the venues, finding places to stay etc.?

Or have you everything planned already and wrapped up before your move to New York?

Question about Nr. 4) Purchase something on Amazon.com through the link. Does this only apply to Amazon.com or also to other countries (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.de) if I go through your link to Amazon.com and from there to the Country?

I think it was one of Jared Diamonds books - Guns, Germs and Steel? - where he pointed out how most cultures hadn't invented the wheel, instead it had traveled from one Invention in the fertile crescent to the other Groups.

Also, llamas can carry at most 50 KGs (100 Pounds) so they can't be used as riding or pulling animals (only light packs). The progession of Invention in the Crescent was from using sledge-types/ logs-as-rollers to slabs-from-logs to wheels, always using strong pulling animals like oxen. Without oxen or similar strong animals, that progession simply can't, and didn't, occur.

"The rampant speciesism remaining undisputed does carry some unfortunate implications. On the other hand, it's entirely possible (Nobby knows) that the dwarfs in that particular bar like to fight, and that those that prefer to enjoy their evening beer in quiet simply go elsewhere. "

With Nobby, his fear of being harmed Plays obviously a factor. A human in a dwarf bar is not acceptable; a watch member in the Mended Drum who doesn't interfere with the Standard brawl is safe by comparision. So Nobby keeps away from Dwarf Bars and Drinks in the Mended Drum.

"DON’T CALL THE LIBRARIAN A MONKEY DON’T DO IT."

I don't remember where in the APF or elsewhere it's been mentioned: the Librarian goes beserk being called a monkey because he's an Orang-Utan and therefore not a monkey but an ape. (Apparently These are not synoyms in English, but different biological species). So he's being called incorrectly that he objects to.
