Why not start Chapman out in AAA where you can tightly control his innings/pitches? That way you can stretch him out for the long haul. Just an idea...

No surprise to me you ditched the Cubs after one year. You've got class, man! You don't belong in that crowd.

Perhaps it's some inner redneck in me, but I PREFER cans. I really don't like bottles much. When I buy bottled beer I typically pour it in a glass. But for normal beer drinkin', I like an ice cold can. DELISH!

I'm a little older than that, and I must admit I enjoy some of the new "crap". I like a very wide range of music. I've been told my iPod has multiple personality disorder (no disrespect intended). One thing I realized a long time ago, though, is that the new stuff has no "staying power". What appeals to many right now in pop, hip hop, or R&B is obsolete in just a few short years. Classic rock, in my mind, is just timeless. Old rock just never gets old to me.

Valid point. It's just infuriating, and I think like so many other people, I feel pretty helpless. This school apparently even had an up-to-date security procedure, locking the doors at a certain time every morning in an attempt to prevent unauthorized entry. Armed, trained security guards are a great idea. I'd thought about that, too. I'm not sure where districts would get the money to pay them, though. You can't prevent nut jobs from EVER attempting mass murders again, but I think taking appropriate steps to make it damn near impossible to harm children while they're in school should be a top priority. Whatever it takes....those schools should be like little fortresses. This whole thing is just very sad.

I know this won't be a popular statement, but the only thing that seems like it MIGHT be a decent deterrent is to have teachers or school faculty trained in weapons handling and arm them. How else do you keep lunatics from barging into schools and murdering innocent children and adults? Maybe lunatics will look elsewhere if they know they may get gunned down themselves before injuring/killing others. I just don't know. Our society just continues to go down the crapper.

I'll be quite surprised if the Reds make an major deals. With a handful of guys getting increased pay this year, no coveted players in the minors, and only 5 starters with previous MLB experience, I have a hard time seeing who they could deal. I don't support trading ANY starting pitchers. Unlike opinions I've read elsewhere, I wouldn't say they have "depth" in the starting rotation.

I run into this at every Reds game I attend. I always assume it's because of so many people being on the same few towers nearby. I would THINK walkie talkies would work. I've never tried them, but I know there are some that have some pretty decent range. Ain't that a "B" about the cell phones, though? One of times when you could REALLY use the convenience it's meant to bring, and the signal is poor. I remember younger days going to Kings Island. We always had specific meeting times/locations. "Everyone meet back here at 2:45pm, ok?" I suppose you could always go "old school" like that if nothing else. But I'd look into walkie talkies first.

I don't know that I'd trade Leake. The Reds were quite fortunate this year that all of their starting 5 avoided the injury bug (until Cueto in the postseason). No way they're that lucky again next year. Arroyo is getting older, and Bailey has only had one full season in the majors now, right? I'd hold onto Leake for sure. You can never have enough pitching. I want a leadoff guy, too, but not at the expense of a "spare" starting pitcher. I don't know if anyone at AAA is ready, and you know what you'll get with Leake. I think the Reds will struggle to find decent offensive help this offseason. There just doesn't seem to many "good fits" out there for them.

Actually, I was just trying to come up with something anonymous and the word "mystery" came to mind. In my younger days, whenever my mom had something cooking in the crock pot, my buddies would refer to it as "mystery meat". So, Mr_E_Meat is supposed to sound like "Mystery Meat". Kinda chessy, I know, but it made me laugh when I created it.

Good to hear from you, Kimo! I'm glad you were able to climb out of your Reds postseason depression. I'm obviously still disappointed, but I look forward to next season. I applaud the efforts of the ownership/front office, and appreciate them even more now that we're in the middle of another lackluster Bengals season. I can't wait for Spring Training to start!

Absolutely. To be completely honest, I haven't been following college FB this year at all. But seeing that Notre Dame could qualify for the title game is GROSS. Call it "sour grapes" or whatever you will, I wished nothing but the worst for that program once Brian Kelly took a crap on UC football. The program was on the rise while he was here and he used it as a stepping stone for his personal agenda. Yeah, I know, money talks, and I'm sure many coaches would have done the same. Still, my alma mater was the victim and consequently I fear UC football will forever be viewed/used the same way. A stepping stone to greener pastures. So, short answer? Go Trojans!

I, too, enjoyed what he wrote and agreed to most of it. However, I have to say that I can NOT stand those image gallery stories. All I can think is that's how they generate more page clicks, but it's incredibly annoying to read in that format. They seem to be doing it more and more.

Nice job today, CP. I agree, they'll need more pitching. I'm glad I was wrong earlier this year in saying there'd be injuries to deal with in the starting rotation. But they can't rely on being that lucky again in 2013. Something has to change with the offense, without doubt. I don't know if it's Baker's philosophy, or if it has more to do with Brook Jacoby. But something has to change. They'll need more from Bruce, Stubbs, and Cozart. Those are everyday guys who still have room to improve their AVG and OBP.
