Right, but it makes people sleep, and get sick, and die.

They knew enough for me to be comfortable. Prior to 9/11/01 or Katrina, I think most of the answers would have centered around "life guards" and "Baywatch".

Perhaps Mr. Pulsifer doesn't realize.....no one likes slides, whether they be effective of ineffectice. Keep the projector at home...

I am almost done with this book and I have to say Ryan, I am seriously impressed. Mr. Helvarg traveled the Coast Guard, collecting many stories, appropriately applying them to themes, and all of it is fairly detailed. I have plenty of Coast Guard books, but this one has me turning the pages.

There is one, somewhat distracting point Helvarg makes, as he points out "climate change" mutiple times. Is it terrible? No, but I picked up on it. Helvarg is an environmentalist, so I can't completely fault him.

He is critical in some parts of the book, with regards to Deepwater, the clean up in San Fran, Webster Smith, etc, which i think generally adds to the credibility of the book. We're not completely perfect. Helvarg doesn't try to to paint that picture.

For those serving in the Coast Guard, many of the names in this book will be familiar to you. I find myself saying "Wait isn't that....." or "Hey, I worked with him...."

This book has been a joy to read, does the Coast Guard a service and I believe is a "must read" even for people who know everything. If you like a good sea story, there are plenty in this book.

Each rating has a coin (with a few exceptions), that can be purchased at your local CGEX.

This "stuff" has been looked at well before the "outbreak" of swine flu (oh! I mean H1N1).

If there is an outbreak of ebola any time soon, I cannot promise I will be in at work. I will be at home praying it doesn't go airborne.

On a side note, read the book "Hotzone".

Oh ok. I always considered them "computer geeks", but I guess that isn't an independent major.
