When I was a kid we had guns in the house, they were stored in one room, the ammo in a locked box in another. They also had trigger locks on them. Add to that the fact that we were taught that you never aim a gun at something you don't plan on shooting. Heck, we were eveb given instructions to not point our toy guns at people's faces. I think, in this context, the water its self is the blessing. It seems to just be the name of the piece of art/fountain. As to the act of blessing water, growing up Protestant, it never made sense to me either. Of course holy water is great fun in vampire flicks. ;-)

I can't decide what bothers me more, that he assumed you were praying, or that he assumed you were praying to Jesus. I think it's the latter, as the former could be seen as an honest mistake, the latter is just pure arrogance. All that said, I like the idea of mindful eating!

Sadly it is a very real organization. They're pretty much the organization of choice when you want to joke that someone is evil and don't want to use KKK or Nazi. Jon Stewart has mentioned them for years, and Southpark had a great episode involving them.

I was in a martial arts supply store years ago, run by a very nice Korean family, and on the stereo was a Christian broadcast in Korean. It was really strange hearing those familiar speech patterns of evangelical preaching, but in a language I didn't understand at all. Unfortunately too many Christians view atheists based on what they see in the media, and don't realize that many of the nice people they interact with every day can be atheists without them ever knowing it.
