Michael Hyatt Blog : Book Notes: Find Your Strongest Life by Marcus Buckingham

Good stuff! I am thankful to say that I am MUCH happier than I was 10 years ago. Why? Not coincidentally Marcus's "Trombone Player Wanted" has a lot to do with it. The last two years of my life allowed for much change career-wise that resulted in a lot of freedom and consequently knowing the heart of God deeper. Funny how He has been honoring my heart all along, it was me who was leaning on the wisdom of men and almost apologetic for the fire He was developing on the inside of me. It took a lot of courage to let go of a lot of things before I could even be in a clear enough place in my own head to enter into something new. Marcus's books give people permission in a sense to stick their heads out and explore possibilities. Who knows what's around the corner? :)

Michael Hyatt Blog : The Importance of Listening to Consumers

I just looked through my bookshelf to see how many Thomas Nelson books I've read. At a quick glance, I am estimating about 20-25% of my books sport the "Nelson Housey" logo, as I refer to it. I found the variety of authors interesting. Paula White, John Maxwell, Henry Blackaby, Erwin McMannus, Benny Hinn, etc...I would say, keep up the quality and the variety. When I pick up a new book that no one in my sphere has read and I'm undecided on whether I should purchase it or not, I look at the publisher. If I trust the quality they have produced in the past , I am more likely to invest.

Michael Hyatt Blog : Book Notes: Love and Respect by Emerson Eggerichs

This book changed my life! It's a must read even for singles. We may not be married, but we are connected to marriages all around us and have been positively or negatively affected by this "institution". I think it can be a good "confront your preconceived ideas" kind of read. Especially when we invest the energy to work through it! I will use this one as a reference book, like an always available coach!

Michael Hyatt Blog : 6 Steps to More Courage

Happy Father's Day to ya! Reading this post made me feel light, not heavy. I think I held my breath when I started to read it (and not b/c ya'll were in deep waters:). I thought...shew...o.k. buckle up, more stuff to measure up to...But your question at the end set me free. Why? because THE most effective outcome of practicing courage for me is peace. Courage is not an event but a process to live in. Every process requires energy. When I chose a process, like courage, it results in peace which increases my capacity for more courage. When I chose a process like resisting what I know I need to do, or fear, which shuts me up, the result is peace-less. There is no return for the energy I just invested. So, if I am going to invest energy anyways, it might as well be put into doing the courageous thing.

Michael Hyatt Blog : 20 Questions to Ask Other Leaders

These are super. My questions: 1. Can you recall a time when you were at the end of your rope when faced with solving a problem? If yes, what role, if any, did the supernatural play in how the resolution came about? 2. Has the weight of responsibility in your leadership ever have any negative effects on other areas of your life? If yes, how long did it take from when you realized what was happening to when you made some changes? How were you able to act so quickly or why was it a lengthy process? I like this question:) I could go on...I think I'll find someone to interview too! Another great motivational/informational blog:) I nearly always DO something or start working on something after I read them:)

Other books that should not have become best sellers but did? For some reason I am always surprised when health related books soar. Yes, I know an increasing number of people are taking a great interest in their health, but it seems to be somewhat repetitious info sometimes and if I buy one such book and put in practice what I learned thereby achieving results, I would not invest my time in reading a different version. We already know what to do. Reading another book won't help us. Doing the thing will. A very personal opinion, I know:)

Michael Hyatt Blog : On Avoiding Writing

This made me laugh and cry all in the same breath. Literally. I'm laughing b/c this is so human. I feel thoroughly understood. I discovered this last hour that eating HoHos and chewing on my cuticles are perfect ways of distracting myself:) Only in Anne Lamott's "Bird by Bird" did I laugh this hard b/c I identified on some level. It triggered tears b/c, once again, it was a confirming kind of unexpected confrontation that I give a rip. Yes, I do. I give a rip about writing. The smaller distractions are only a shadow of a much larger entity who seems to be relentless to sidetrack and suffocate our voices at times. I'm done with the HoHos. Now, where are the Cheetos?:)

Michael Hyatt Blog : When Social Media Marketers Stumble

A year and a half ago I was going through a major transition. Tim Ferris, through his book, was like a good buddy on the sidelines affirming the direction I was taking and the speed at which I was getting there. I think subconsciously readers can be prone to invalidate what they have learned from an author previously when they feel they are let down with products that follow. There is no real cause for this in most cases, but still the mind might go there fairly quickly. Hope they come through with this product:)

Michael Hyatt Blog : Leaders Never Act in a Vacuum

What does finishing make possible for me? It increases my capacity for Christ. How? On the path to the finish line I will have to face my limits, my fears, my insecurities, my expectations, resentments, or whatever other dream entangling suggestions the enemy will throw at me. By facing these it will be clear that I alone can not do this. This will keep me in real-time with Jesus. Not talking about yesterdays miracles but experiencing Him in the now. This will increase the space inside my soul that would be available for Him to fill. Surely, I could be completely filled up with Him, but there's a difference between having a shot glass full of water or a bucket full of water when I need to quench not only my thirst, but the thirst of others for someOne real.

I will live out my vision of the future according to my view of God's involvement in the future. This relates to my vision of the past as well. We asked where God was on 9-11 for example. For me, He was where I placed Him. For you, He was where you placed Him. Where was He when great things happened? He was where we each placed Him in our own lives, as far as our experienced reality is concerned. If I keep my reality in Him, He will show me what my true responsibilities will be in the future as He is showing me what they are now. Kudos to Samantha above for your comment!

Michael Hyatt Blog : A Thank You to Our Veterans

I was born and raised in a communist country where my dad and I fled from through a refugee camp in the mid 80's. My mom was allowed to join us later. A sure way to get my flood gates opened is to play the Star-Spangled Banner. We have certainly escaped quite a bit by being allowed into this country. I do not know any veterans by name but do know several people serving our country now. To you, and all who have gone before, I extended gratitude. Thanks also to those who fight the unseen wars over our country in the Spirit realm by prayer. Let's remember that we're in this together:)

Michael Hyatt Blog : 10 Rules for Better Presentations

This is great! I am learning the art of telling vulnerable stories (#4,6). It takes wisdom as far as how much of one's inner soul-content to display, to whom and when, especially when the story involves other people. I'm also braving up to trust some others to tell my stories when they speak. I just read John Maxwell's "Put Your Dream to the Test" and that's where I first heard about you, Mike, which totally motivated me, once again, to allow access to my stories. Between John's book and your blogs/tweets my rear end is getting a serious kick right now! In a good way:)
