<title>WOODTV.com : WOOD TV8 | Local health depts and H1N1 vaccines</title>
<link>http://www.woodtv.com/dpp/news/michigan/local_health_departments_and_H1N1_vaccines#IDComment39556161</link>
<description>I&amp;#039;m not sure it matters if you do want to get the vaccine. It&amp;#039;s not available to the general public yet here in Michigan, and won&amp;#039;t be for several more weeks. Once you get the vaccine it takes anywhere from 3 to 10 days to reach effectiveness. People are already coming down with Swine Flu. If and when the vaccine is available, it will probably be too little, too late. Why wasn&amp;#039;t the vaccine shipped and in place sooner? I saw an interview with a federal health official who was asked that very question. He said they were having difficulty working out the logistics of shipping. What? People ship stuff all over this country every day. But the government can&amp;#039;t figure out how to do it? Give me a break. Washing hands and avoiding situations where there is a high risk of infection is the best most of us will be able to do. </description>
