Breitbart.com : Afghan strategy to focus on major population centers: report

In the news just yesterday was the Dem Senator from New York (? I think that is where he is from) calling a Dem Lobbyist a name. He began his rant with "I am the only member of congress who is actually an economist ... ". Basically, he was offended because someone without his experience in economics was trying to tell him how to do things ... And yet, according to those very same people (the Democrats), I am supposed to be OK with someone with ZERO military experience telling the commanding general who will (basically) hold my son's life in his hands how to do things ... not to mention the *glaring* lapse in time in doing so!!! What is wrong with this picture??!? I just don't understand!!!

Breitbart.com : Obama not yet sure of Afghanistan troop decision timing

Woofie, Your comment has been on my heart since I replied to it earlier. Know that our boys are *well* trained, and the most disciplined fighting force America has ever had. That being said, I also understand how heavily this weighs on your heart. Wives and children have their own ordeal, but for the parents of our troops it is a whole different situation. After all, we have spent our children's lives protecting them ... and now our hands are tied. It is no easy task ahead of you .... but I am living proof that it *is* survivable for all parties concerned!! (And, I am not necessarily a pillar of strength here!!) For all that you are going to experience ... and feel ... and hear ... know that most of America supports you and your son with all their hearts. They will tell you that themselves if you give them the chance. I will be sure to keep you and your son in my prayers, God Bless, A fellow (and very proud) parent of one of America's finest

Planet_Hero, I have read a few of your comments here and I must say that you have the President's talking points down to a tee. The question I have for you is how much of your flesh and blood is in harm's way as Mr Obama has pondered their fate, yet taken no action. My guess is none. And, keeping that in mind, I have no problem informing you that your comments have been as insensitive as they have been ignorant. I am constantly informed that the party to the left of center is the "compassionate" party. Well ... You couldn't prove it by me after reading your little rants.

Agreed!! If this Commander in Chief cannot get behind our troops in their fight for our freedoms, he should fell free to stand in front of them.

I was just watching a piece of the Obama/Al Maliki press conference (on Fox News, of course!!) and Mr Obama took the time to *Thank* our men and women serving over there!!! *THANK* them!!! GREAT .... More freakin' words!! Dear Mr. President, As the mother of a soldier getting ready to ship to Afghanistan, this time *words* won't do ... unless those words are "Send the requested troops"!! If you are unable to speak those words, than you *really* need to bring our boys home, and accept that *you* are the one who failed!!

How *dare* you!! You, Sir, are the reason my heart breaks. WE did everything YOU would have had us do, and yet 9/11 happened!! Thank the Lord that the last time this country was attacked (1941 in case the reference confused you), this country had the go-nads (forgive the vulgarity) to stand up and defend freedom. And, thank God that there are young men with fortitude that are *still* willing to lay down their lives for freedom .... even *yours*!! I pray for this country every night ... but an uneasiness still stirs in my heart ... *mostly* because of people like you.

As the mother of a soldier who served in the Surge, and is now getting ready to ship to Afghanistan, I have to say I am pretty tired of all this. The man who leaves our troops out to dry (as he, *nine* months into his administration, seemingly tries to figure out how to permanently withdraw his support for our soldiers) gets praised ... as congress takes money from that money set aside for supplying my boy and our troops with what they need to survive, to build libraries to dead senators ... as one of the citizens who has benefited from my son's blood, sweat and tears gets accolades for disparaging the one man who had the guts to free him!!!! As someone who is very proud of my son's service, and has *always* supported our troops *AND* the job that they do ... I just don't know what to make of this all. For me, it is *very* disheartening.

shiggins10, I have not made fun of Mr. Obama, nor have I talked about killing Muslims within the first 2 sentences nor throughout my posts, and no one has jumped down my throat .... No one, except for you if you count your post later on down this thread where you state that: "There's nothing wrong with slamming a fellow american. you did so yourself in your post. and there should be nothing wrong with slamming a soldier" ... which occurred, curiously, after I posted back to pmod stating that I felt "slammed" by the constant reference to the "What-Ifs"

Pmob, Without addressing every one of your points here, because I really do think is simply boils down to different views/perspectives, I will add the following couple of comments: #1 I do not believe *anything* should be blindly followed ... not in faith, politics or personal lives. And this is a view that my son was raised on. But, that being said, I do believe that sometimes reasons for actions are not as clear cut as people might wish them to be from their own vantage point. I am aware that I do not know all that is going on behind the closed doors of Washington, but I do know that I worked in and for the Pentagon until after 9/11. I understand that sometimes it is what we are not seeing that can be the most dangerous. And #2, I do not remember mentioning anywhere what my political leanings are ... the only thing I have stated is that I love and support my son in the only way that I know.

pmob, Forgive me for asking, but I have never actually been a soldier. I have, however, talked to my son, and I just don't understand how this was an "illegal kill". This is not the first time you used those words, and they just don't make sense to me. Like I said, I have never been a soldier, but I do not see how the soldier's actions are illegal.

pmob, What you call "glossing over", I call supporting our military and my son. I believe that playing politics with the job that my son, as well as all others in the military, do actually puts my son in danger and, in a way, undermines and diminishes the unbelievable integrity and honor that I have seen in those who serve. To slam me with the "WHAT-IFs" does not bring to mind any scenario that I haven't considered a thousand times before ... And yet, for each and every one of those scenarios that come to mind, I cannot be sure of what my reactions would be. It is through dozens of conversations with my son that I know what he expects of me. So, I can only say that I would hope that whatever my reactions are, they would not dishonor my son or those he serves with...

Pmob, I spent 25 years serving our military as a civilian. I have worked with veterans of 4 different conflicts/wars. I know the damage that a lack of public support can do to our men and women in uniform. After saying that, I not only encouraged my son's service, (Infantry ... so yes he has seen a great deal of combat) ... but I also encouraged his re-enlistment. I am extremely proud of his dedication to this country and his service in the Army. I readily support him, and the soldiers he serves with ... and not just with words. These young men know my support and honor me with how grateful they are for the little things I do for them while they serve overseas (like sending home baked cookies on a regular basis). I work very hard not to address the what-ifs ... I never want to know that pain .... EVER. But, my son knows that no matter what, I will *always* honor his service ... period.

I tried to walk away from your comment but couldn't. As the mother of a soldier who served as the tip of the Surge in Iraq, (and is now getting ready to deploy to Afghanistan) I find your comments uninformed and disturbing. I thank you for your service, but you have *no* idea what these boys (as well as their families back home) face every day. Because of people like you, I always feel the need to explain to my son that he needs to worry about surviving first and not second-guess himself when he is faced with split second decision making. When it comes to our "overseas contingencies" (I think that is what we are suppose to be calling them) not one of our boy's lives ... not one drop of our boy's blood ... is worth the cost of second-guessing whether what is coming at them is a shoe or something that is going to harm or kill them. You say you served ... killed ... etc. I have to admit that I do have my doubts. #1 Those, like my son, who have seen the face of war do not talk so cavalierly about it to strangers, and #2 Those who have survived war do not so readily question the integrity or motives of those currently in harms way.
