125's yawn?
Obviously, you're someone who doesn't know squat about motorcycle racing.

It doesn't make any difference that you think the responsibity should be shared, the facts are:
1) The accident report put 100% of the fault on Continental, and
2) There were no design flaws that can be attributed to the Concorde.

All I have seen so far is Continental slinging a lot of un-noteworthy S!#T against the wall, and people are licking it off.

Face it, the mechanic screwed up and didn't follow McDonnell Douglas repair requirements.

You don't need to be an expert to see that this is an inane comment either. What kind of silly statement are you going to come up with the next time a bird brings down an airplane. I had 24 friends in the Air Force who are no longer here because of that.

Right now I'm trying to figure out what universe these comments are from.

It funny how in Seattle, as soon as there is an aviation story all the "experts" come out of the woodwork.

1) The idea that a blown tire is a BASIC requirement is and shouldn't bring down an airliner is an ignorant statement at best. Containing engine parts in a catastrophic failure is a basic requirement also, but that doesn't mean that it is a 100% guarantee. Engineers do there best but can't engineer every eventuality.
2) It's utterly laughable that anyone would think that Air France being state owned at the time would be an issue.
3) This comes down to ONE thing, and one thing only, negligence on the part of Continental. The part that failed had been repeatedly fixed by maintenance. The part was suppose to be held on with 12 fasteners and fabricated out of aluminum but the last time it was made out of titanium and there were 37 previous holes in the underlying structure.

The accident report lays the blame squarely on Continental. They should consider themselves lucky that the judgment was so small.

If I had to choose to fly on Air France or Continental I’d choose Air France, because maintenance for US domestic airlines is by the lowest bidder.

Frankly, all I see is a lot of Francophobia here.

Israel doesn't bully anyone, really!, I'm so glad you cleared that up for me. It's a good thing that having more than a quarter million settlers and troops in the OCCUPIED territory of the West Bank is not bullying.

It is also said with some validity that if the Israeli's would go back across the '67 line, that the war would stop.

It's absolutely amazing how that there is no argument the world opinion is with the Palestinian people, yet only Americans with Righteous Indignation continue with arguing with FACTS!

People! Read some books! You don’t have to read books written by Arabs, you can read books such as:

Soldiering for peace: by Carl von Horn

War and peace in the Middle East: The experiences and views of a UN observer by Odd Bull

Israel in Lebanon: Report of the International Commission to Enquire into Reported Violations of International Law by Israel During Its Invasion of T (Jerusalem studies series) by Sean Macbride

Israel/Palestine: How to End the War of 1948 by Tanya Reinhart

Drinking the Sea at Gaza: Days and Nights in a Land Under Siege by Amira Hass

The Iron Wall: Israel and the Arab World by Avi Shlaim

One Palestine, Complete: Jews and Arabs Under the British Mandate by Tom Segev

The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem, 1947-1949 (Cambridge Middle East Library) by Benny Morris

I can't believe I'm getting sucked into an argument with unarmed intelligence again.

As opposed to an 8 year old boy meeting his end from the end of an Israeli Galil?
You're fraking right I'm anti-Israel, just as I was anti-English in Northern Ireland, or anti-white in apartide South Africa, or that I would be anti-Canadian if the Canadians ever occupied the Puget Sound and committed the atrocities that the Israeli’s inflict.

The FACT is that the injustices perpetrated against the Israeli's by the INDIGINOUS population (Palestinians) pale against what suicide bombers or rockets have done to the Israeli’s.

The FACT is International law favors the Palestinians. It is only ignorant Americans who don’t understand the history or get incomplete coverage of Middle East news, and a Congress that is bought off by groups such as AIPAC, that perpetuate the violence.

And if you would actually read instead of spouting off about things you show that you know little/anything about, you would have seen that I said,

"Both groups were considered terrorists, but UNFORTUNATELY history shows that violence is the only way for small groups with legitimate rights to fulfill those rights."

Unless you can show me something different, that would be a true statement.

I gave you a thumbs up Michelle!
Without exception, every single comment here has been out of ignorance of reality. Perhaps if more Americans would actually read books instead of getting their opinions from osmosis. Factually, history favors the Palestinians, just as it favored the IRA, and the ANC. Both groups were considered terrorists, but unfortunately history shows that violence is the only way for small groups with legitimate rights to fulfill those rights.

Actually, Nixon did. Other than him I can't think of any.

You mean like this part of the Constitution...

"The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and GENERAL WELFARE of the United States"

It appears that the GOP always forgets to mention the General Welfare part.

Yes there are better ways of stopping a runaway car, but let make this a little clearer for you... YOU CAN TURN OFF THE ENGINE WITH THE KEY AND IT WON'T LOCK THE STEERING, YOU JUST TURN THE KEY 1 POSITION. QUIT YELLING AT PEOPLE TELLING THEM THAT IT IS GOING TO LOCK THE STEERING.

I have done this before, it is safe, if you keep your wits about you. It is just another tool in an emergency. You can also try to lift the pedal with your toes, if you are in an old car with a mechanical linkage.

People just need to remember to stay calm, because there are multiple solutions to this problem, and denying any of them before it happens is idiotic.
