Broken Plot Device : Breaking Up

Well. Looks like you've got all the support in the world, except for right where you need it. Do what you must, take as long as you need, and may all the good Karma you've been building up by brightening up the days of others come straight out of nowhere and kiss you on the face. If you're ever within a hundred miles of Moscow, Idaho, I'd consider it an honor to buy you lunch.

You didn't live in Moscow, Idaho, did you? I live on the same street as a bar named CJ's... and a lot of obnoxious loud inebriated college students wander by my windows at one or two in the morning shouting "WOOOO" and the like.

Speaking as a long-term Trekkie, I am amazed and overjoyed to hear Q endorse this show and its wonderful fans to other afficionados of sci-fi and fantasy alike. DeLancie's recommendation carries a lot of weight, and I'm happy he did this.

Equestria Daily : FLASH EVENT: Write a 300 Word Story!

I love your alliteration. The breakage of the fourth wall immediately thereafter is amusing as well, as it strikes me as something Twi might say in character in the actual show. However, your use of periods versus commas when regarding dialogue needs some work, and also you forgot more than once to put a period at the end of a sentence. Lastly, this doesn't seem like a self-contained story so much as a segue to a full-length one. I'd be interested to read about a magical mane conditioner that fixes arcane mane-futzery, but this is supposed to be a self-contained 300-word story. You let me know when you finish this as a MORE than 300 word story, and I will totally read it.

You didn't need the preface. It's obvious from your level of mechanical skill (basic grammar, punctuation, and mechanical skills) that you haven't written anything before. It's atrocity after atrocity. You could really use some brushing-up on basic English mechanics. However, I don't think I've ever seen a Roald Dahl "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" crossover with MLP before, and it could be a very interesting story indeed. If you put the necessary work into it, and grabbed a well-versed prereader or two, this could turn out to be something totally awesome. I hope you write a full-length version of this story in the future! P.S. "Wanka" is spelled "Wonka" for future reference.

This is pretty solid, but it seems more like a preview than an entire story. Your grammar and punctuation are good, but this isn't in and of itself a story... it's just part of one. One I would read if it was complete. Therefore, I will be looking for the complete one showing up on EQD within a month or so. Don't disappoint me!

Flash fiction like this is hard, even for professional authors like myself. Fitting a whole story into such a miniscule wordcount is hard, but here is my third draft, finally managing to bring it under 325 words... TITLE: This Ship has Sailed (Wordcount: 324 words) --- "APPLEJACK!" Rainbow Dash crashed through the roof of Sweet Apple Acres' barn, scattering dust, shattered lumber, and barrels of apples in all directions. Trails of multicolored mist wafted through the stalls and around the barrels of stored apples, mixing with the dust shaken loose by the impact. Applejack peeked up from behind one of the sheep pens. The barn was now in total disarray, and the panicked sheep hastily fled the scene, muttering something about 'Applejack and her crazy friends.' Applejack tilted her hat back on her head. "What in tarnation are you on about, R.D.? And what'd you punch a hole in my roof for?" "Oh you know, all right," Dash said, and threw down a crumpled newspaper. "This! Everypony's saying that you and I are... that we're... well, more than just friends." She crinkled her nose. "And Twilight says that Sweet Apple Acres is getting a lot more visitors since this hit print." She scowled. "You want to explain that?" "It ain't nothing, sugarcube," Applejack said. "Nothing but ponies talking." "Nothing?" Dash asked, prodding Applejack in the chest. "Yeah right. Ponies talk, and you sell more apples. Coincidence? I doubt it. 'Nothing' isn't what everypony's saying." Applejack smiled. "Look, R.D., since that article hit print, lots of ponies've been coming around asking if it's true. If anypony actually asks me, I tell 'em the truth: you and me's been nothing but best friends, and have been since y'moved here. Ain't nothing gonna change that." Dash looked at Applejack quizzically. "You mean that?" "Sure as shootin' I do," Applejack said. "An' while they're here, I try and sell 'em an apple or two." She smiled. "If it bothers you that much, do ya wanna go beat some sense into the reporters that wrote this load of horseapples?" Dash grinned, and scraped a hoof on the ground. "That... would be awesome." Applejack snorted, and grinned too. "Then let's go do it."
