Big Hollywood : Tokidoki Barbie: The Conservative Hipster

I am 27 years old, have always wanted to dye my hair blue (just for a little while, but I haven't had a job where I thought I could get away with it until recently), and am still debating whether to get that Eeyore tattoo I've always wanted. I've never smoked or done drugs, and I disapprove of premarital sex. I'm also a collector of art like this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OD_ELPYuDWo/Tmfe_UVN84I... and oh yeah, I'm a die-hard conservative. I listen to Rush and Glenn, I frequent all the Breitbart sites, Hot Air, RedState, and Michelle Malkin. I designed a logo for the Tea Party. AND I applaud you for this article. IT'S A DOLL, FOLKS. Don't we have bigger fish to fry? When you allow such trivial things to offend your delicate sensibilities, you play right into the liberals' hands.

Big Government : Tea Party Group Harassed by GA Capitol Police While Occupy Wall Streeters Given Pass to Break Laws

This confuses me..... I went to no less than five Tea Party demonstrations at the Georgia Capitol, and we were always treated respectfully by the police: not only did they appear to genuinely like us, but they always removed any disruptive liberal party-crashers very quickly. Furthermore, the pole-height thing was well-known after the first couple of events, and when I was a volunteer, it was part of my job to confiscate any poles/sticks. No one ever complained or gave me trouble for it. So, while I can agree that the OWS people are not being held to the same standards as Tea Partiers, it's unfair to say that the police have been biased AGAINST the Tea Party, because they were always kind. I imagine the truth has more to do with intimidation than agreement with the OWS protesters' ideas. The police know these new protesters would not comply as peacefully as Tea Partiers did, so they're reluctant to enforce the rules. Still stinks, though. But hey, you don't hear us whining about how UNFAIR life is.

Big Hollywood : Ten Best Movies of 2010

Um, Tangled didn't make it? What, no love for the classic fairy tale? Come on, folks, that movie rocked. Right up there with How to Train Your Dragon (and Toy Story 3, though honestly I'm tired of sequels, even good ones). Dying to see The King's Speech, though. Surprised Black Swan didn't make it, either.

Big Hollywood : Exclusive Interview: Walden Media President Michael Flaherty on 'Dawn Treader,' the Liam Neeson Cont

I always planned on seeing this movie, even after hearing the lame comments from Neeson and the producer. What shocks me is how harsh many commenters seem to be on the first two films: you're entitled to your own opinion, of course, but I think that, since the books are so short, simple, and lack much detail (as compared to Tolkein's work, for instance), the choices made to extend them to movie-length were good ones. Having read the books, I tend to think that the movies make for a much better entertainment experience (which is not to impugn C.S. Lewis, who was a fabulous writer), since the action and humor can be amplified for the films. Anyway, I'm hardly going to change anyone's mind about the movies with my soapbox rant, but suffice to say I'm looking forward to seeing Dawn Treader later today, and I suspect it will be as much fun as the first two films. PS. I somehow missed that Disney was no longer a part of this franchise, but that explains why this came out so soon after Tangled..... Disney would never try to compete with itself in the children's market.

Big Hollywood : 'Narnia' Producer: 'Whether These Books are Christian, I Don't Know'

Please note that Neeson said something uninformed, not offensive (at least, I don't find it offensive, and I'm both a Christian and a fan of the Chron. of Narnia). Don't take it out on the film, which promises to be excellent and, as usual, very faithful to the book. But if you must miss it and don't mind giving Disney your money via some other means, see Tangled. AWESOME. I can't believe they let these two movies come out so close together: competing with yourself in the narrow children's movie market is a big no-no.

I remember thinking that during my 20th C. Art History class in college: "Wait a minute, isn't this the same guy that did Nude Descending a Staircase? (a kick-arse Cubist work, in my opinion) Why the toilet?" I never read deeper into it, but I always assumed he was shoving the contemporary art world's pretensions up its own. But apparently somebody thought Potty = High Art, so here we are. Poor Marcel must be rolling in his grave to see the stuff popping up in museums and galleries today. And by the way, the most extreme and hilarious example of modern art that I ever saw was a pure white canvas. Seriously, it was just blank. I'm sure that says something about the viewer filling in with whatever they see and yada yada, but mainly it was funny.

Big Hollywood : 'Tangled' Review: Spectacular 3D Disney Adventure

This was an utterly fabulous movie (I've already seen it twice and plan on going again, and I don't even have kids!), but I'm baffled..... Where the heck did you come up with the name "Jake?" Are you sure you watched the movie? There's no Jake: it's Flynn Rider, thankyouverymuch, and he also sometimes goes by Eugene Fitzherbert. If you're going to write a review, maybe don't make QUITE that big of a flub next time. But seriously, best Disney animated film since the 90s, I think. I'm all in a princess-induced Happy Bubble this week. Yay!

Big Hollywood : America Loves Manly Men Not Metrosexual Emos

Yes yes yes. I say this all the time. PLEASE give me movies with MEN. A while back, my friends and I were imagining what an A-list cast for Atlas Shrugged would look like. Or Fountainhead, for that matter. We literally could not think of a SINGLE young male in Hollywood who could pull off the manly main characters found in those films. We could think of plenty of women to fulfill the roles, and plenty of emasculated guys to take on the pathetic, wimpy characters, but not one to play Howard Roark or John Galt. And that, I think, makes the point.

Big Journalism : Keep the Tea Kool-Aid-Free: 5 Stupid Conservative Tactics that Serve the MSM’s Narrative

WOW. Y'all need to chill out. The author was very honest about how his age and limited experience colors his view of current events, and accordingly, gave his opinion. I think he did so in a respectful manner, but people here are ripping him to shreds as though he told everyone older than 30 to go to h*ll. I'm 26 years old, and the thing that most concerns me now is that, though the generations older than I might successfully turn back the tide of liberalism today, they are NOT teaching their children and grandchildren the beliefs and values that will allow us to carry on the fight. My husband and I are the only conservatives we know in our age group. A brief glance at my Facebook friend list demonstrates that out of 400 friends, roughly 350 self-identify as liberal. In short, we are setting ourselves up to win the battle, but lose the war. I don't necessarily agree with every point the author makes, but I think the vicious attacks on him and the common tendency to just write him off as a stupid kid are counterproductive, and to a certain extent, they make his point. Yes, be true to yourself, but remember that optics matter and today's kids won't always be kids. Behave in a way that will make us want to be like you, so that when you can't fight any more, we will.

I liked it enough to want to hear more, but I agree with some other folks here that the music will suffer if the message is too forced.
Crap. I was really looking forward to seeing Social Network, but now I don't know if I can..... it's not that he believes what he says - I assume every movie I see was made by people who believe such things - it's that he doesn't have the decency and respect for his audience to keep his mouth shut about topics that have nothing to do with the film, certainly while it's still in theaters. I am absolutely determined to teach these losers a lesson.... I made sure to see Inception for free after the idiot comments by the stars, and have avoided Glee and several other shows for the same reason.
Big Hollywood : Hollywood Feminism: Eat Pray Love ... Vomit Rinse Repeat

I find Under the Tuscan Sun improves on repeat viewings. As others have stated, Lane's character is devastated by her divorce, something rare in a culture that tends to portray it as "liberating." Another aspect of the film that I appreciate is that Frances (Lane) THINKS that what she needs to fix her life is a lover, but that road leaves her empty and it is only by giving of herself at the end of the movie that she finds peace (and THEN the right man shows up, yay!). It can be new-agey at times, but for a movie about a San Francisco-ite, it ain't half-bad.

"If you guys ever get the reins I hope you have more class." Believe me, so do we. Otherwise, we're wasting our time and energy, and we'll never recover from our own hypocrisy. That said, I think there's significant evidence that we DO have more class (with a few exceptions, of course). Example: compare behavior, language, and cleanliness of any Tea Party with Open Borders/Anti-Capitalist/etc rally. Or heck, compare Obama's Inauguration with the big DC Tea Party last year. They speak for themselves. And I totally agree: I can't watch anything without being insulted anymore, and it's frustrating because I don't WANT to be overly sensitive, I just can't help it.
Big Hollywood : Film Review: Everything Wrong with Hollywood Can Be Summed Up with the Word 'Predators'

I would certainly agree with the idea that Hollywood has destroyed femininity (real femininity, not the Miley-Cyrus-posing-naked-to-prove-she's-a-woman variety) nearly as much as masculinity. That said, and being something of a prude myself, I'm rather surprised you found my comments "crude and vulgar." That assertiveness (or "barbarity," apparently?) is far less a result of Hollywood and much more a direct result of being raised by a mother who, in her younger years, was a pretty hardcore feminist and tomboy, not to mention a father who ended up with two girls and no sons (and if you think I'm direct, you should hear my sister). Semantics and prudery aside, I think that when Hollywood was first trying to depict the "strong" modern woman, the only way they could think to do it was to give her masculine traits. Likewise, when they wanted to make men more "sensitive," they made them womanly. Hollywood itself is so shallow that it fails to recognize that both of these traits exist within both sexes: they're simply expressed in different ways.
