Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : 5 things you have to say when you quit a job.

Oh, I should have read this sooner! Yesterday was my last day at a daycare I've worked at for nearly 4 years and decided to quit so I can student teach and finish up my last year of college. As my boss was giving me my check and saying goodbye, I accidentally blurted out, "Oh, I'll come back if I get desperate!" Thankfully she laughed it off...but boy, I couldn't believe I let that come out of mouth!

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Eagerly awaiting the invasion of Christian Silly Bandz.

These just started getting popular where I live. Just a few weeks ago a couple kids wore them to daycare and started sharing them with everyone. I'm not gonna lie...I think they're pretty fun!

I remember those! They were awesome. Actually, they still are. We just gave them out as prizes at the daycare where I work and they were a big hit.

Yep, I've noticed that too! There's never traffic on Sundays. However, grocery stores are insanely busy Sunday afternoons.

I saw an advertisement at my church this weekend saying the youth group would be going to In 'N Out soon, and I was confused too because there isn't an In 'N Out for over 200 miles from where I live!

I think I started reading in 2008. I can't remember how I found out about it, but I do remember staying up half the night reading through archives on that lovely night. I nearly died when I read the Secret Bathroom post! Then I told friends & family about the blog and got them hooked too.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Why worry? (A giveaway.)

I worry about the past...what could I have done so that things would've come out differently? Did I make the right choices about school? The present... Do the people around me see Christ in me, or am I failing in representing Him? Am I going to get into this licensure program? Will I get a scholarship for next year? And the future...Will I ever have close friends again? Will I ever get married (or even get to date someone?) Will I make a good teacher, or am I pursuing something I won't be good at? Will I even ever get a job with the economy the way it is? That looks pretty sad now that I type it all out. I actually don't spend a lot of time dwelling on each of those (well, on most of them), but they do pop into my head occasionally and I worry over them.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : #550. Surviving church as a single.

Yep, you're not the only pathetic one! I catch myself noticing new people and wondering if they're "the one" too...I actually have to make a conscious effort to not look around. Very pathetic, yes. But what's a girl surrounded by friends who're getting married to do?

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Using your palm branch as a weapon of mass sibling destruction.

I don't have any palm branch stories from my own childhood, but I got to experience it from the adult standpoint just today. I was working with the kids at church and this other teacher had given them palm branches to make crosses with, and all chaos insued as the recently sugared up kids (they'd just eaten cupcakes and the sugar must've been the fast-acting-super-hyper-craziness-inducing kind) began attempting to stab each other with the palm branches. I never want to give palm branches to a bunch of 7-year-old boys again (or cupcakes, for that matter!)
