Why couldn't these remains been interned in a memorial for fallen citizens of 9/11? If the remains are of fallen soldiers they get interned, if you are a civilian, you get the dump. FYW!

Once it's legalized, and the industry starts to grow, I think cases of illegal growing ops and the illegal purchases will go down. It won't eliminate illegal activities, but it will shift. You will never totally eliminate the element working outside the law in any industry.

Dude, This discussion is about the declassification of Marijuana and its implications. Yes, there is a big advantage to its medicinal uses. There are other advantages as well, like the reduction in violent crimes, less resources spent chasing illegal drug ops, could provide revenue for the country. I agree the tax system is way F'd up in the country. It needs serious overhauling!! But to deny the tax benefit would be stupid. I would rather that they take from sales of Marijuana than from Social Security.

I think that if they are successful, this would help aid our state with its budgetary woes. This would open up a broad new industry and could be taxed (fairly, that is) and raise revenue for the state.

You know, there is a fine line between freedom and security which means we have to have a good balance so that we keep our freedoms while we protect ourselves. It seems to me that we are headed into a direction that seems very dangerous. We are going too far with the Homeland Security and the TSA. After all, how effective are the minimum wage TSA employees anyways? They are poorly trained, poorly paid, and understaffed. Our government is trying to create the allure of increased security, but all they have done so far is to whittle away our freedom one little policy change at a time.

I know, I never said that the SPD should charge him, I know its the prosecutor. That is why I stated what I did, in the shooting of JT Williams by Officer Birk, he was not charged for killing Williams. So if they can get away with Murder, then I doubt this case will get any further.

The manslaughter case was a reference to the recent death of the homeless Native American who was shot on the streets of Seattle and all reviews showed that the officer acted outside of the law, but the District Attorney decided not to press charges. If they cannot follow through with this egregious act, why would they go after this case?

I think that you are right to a point. The SPD needs to be transparent in the idea that both good and bad needs to be covered. The sad part is that SPD administration is not doing near enough to stop or even reduce the negative impacts to its own dept.

SPD is above the law, watch, he'll get get off. Perhaps the Prosecutor won't charge him either. If he won't charge an officer with manslaughter then he certainly won't pursue drug or theft charges on this one either. John Diaz needs to go, he's worthless and the SPD's reputation is still sinking under his watch.

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Birk resigns from Seattle Police Department | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | KOMO Ne

Whether he was laughing or crying, why does anyone deserve to be treated like that when they are already subdued and in cuffs? Perhaps his actions afterwards were not honorable, but it does point a light towards issues that are apparent within the police force. Actions like that should not be tolerated by anyone. BTW, there were 2 incidents of stomping in recent weeks. And you cannot compare the Clemmons shooting to this incident. Clemmons got what he deserved, there were witnesses and he had accomplices after the fact. That was a sad moment for all in law enforcement.

Real classy... So your saying that a police officer is hoping for a mugging? Or are you just disguising your wishes? You are the one spewing hatred, I just want to see everyone on the same level. Just because he is a police officer, that should not excuse him from his actions.

Its based on the findings of the review board, you should read it: http://komonews.s3.amazonaws.com/spd_firearms_rev... Dirk made several mistakes leading up to the shooting and failed o follow policy and his own training. The review board findings include Birk's statements. For instance, the dashboard cam does allow you to hear the whole incident, tell me where he identified him as an officer. The solution I offer is this: place Birk on trial of his peers and let due process play out. In the amount of time from the he first said "Hey..." to the gun fire is less than 7 seconds. If he was intoxicated, he may not have been able to fully understand who was shouting at him. Your statement that JT acted aggressively towards others does not mean that he acted aggressively towards Dirk (As you stated, you can't see what happened). So your excused, cause your wrong.

If the internal investigation shows that the shooting was "Unjustified" then how can a DA not press charges. If a civilian is found to not have been justified, then they are subjected to charges and a trial. I think that the SPD live above the law, especially when seeing how they treat other civilians. There have been 2 recent videos showing SPD officers stomping on the heads of people already subdued. The SPD should really take a close look at themselves and clean house. This should not be tolerated by the people. Diaz needs to reign in his officers. I'm sure that Birk resigned in lieu of termination, even if the SPD says otherwise. The writing was on the wall and Birk bailed so he could at some point later, he can apply as an officer somewhere else when the havoc of this case has died down.
