I don't think Absinthe version 2.0 or 2.0.1 makes a difference for cydia. Am i right?

I just want to mention that I have an iPad2,3 (Verizon 3G), iPod4,1 (4th Gen Touch) and an iPhone3,1 (AT&T iPhone4) and everything worked beautifully! I used Absinthe 2.0 for the iPad & iPod and then 2.0.1 for the iPhone. Did clean restores on both devices before running Absinthe. All three went of perfectly well! The first time I tried the iPad I didn't do a clean restore first (I just erased docs and settings) and it didn't work. But once I did a clean restore it was golden! It all worked great. Thanks Pod2G! Gonna donate soon.

So any AT&T Sim card would work right? Micro Sim Obviously.

Does Absinthe 2.0 activate my phone? I am running an AT&T Locked iPhone with H2O wireless. I don't have an AT&T sim card with me. If I restore in iTunes to update this thing ti 5.1.1 will I need that Sim present to make this work? I'm not sure if it'll activate with an H2O Sim card in it after restore. Could I use any friend's AT&T SIM here at work if needed? I think so...

You are incorrect, sir. You can't fetch blobs for 5.0.1. Unless that phone was on cydia and has the blobs saved (which would be random dumb luck). You can only save blobs for what apple is signing now which is 5.1.1. Your friend is correct (in a confusing way).

You're correct. I know that a flash is technically not needed. Since with much of the time a flash is needed when switching CDMA devices "flash" is the word most consumers would associate with "the process of moving the phone from one carrier to another" so I just didn't get technical. When a flash is needed they do that and then add the ESN. In your case you just need the ESN added. I didn't want to make it too technical. I figured when they went to the cell phone carrier they'd explain the nitty gritty. But you are correct, sir!

Straight Talk should work for a GSM iPhone as stated. If you do the h20 CDMA option make sure you go somewhere that can FLASH the phone on to their network. The h2o wireless that gives you a Sim card (and cut it into the smaller microsim shape) is the GSM flavor that rents the AT&T network. In the US you can use an AT&T iPhone (that does not have to be unlocked). Straight Talk is the same I've heard. Never tried it. I use h2o with my AT&T iPhone 4. $60 mo for unlimited text and voice. 2 gb data (they just doubled it).

I know this question likely doesn't have a solid answer but I am curious. When Pod2G's jailbreak sees the light of day do you think the jailbreak will be rolled into Redsn0w for all devices? Or will there be something like Absinthe for us A5 folks? Or perhaps another application all together? Maybe a curveball and a web-based solution?! ha Unlikely. Man that was crazy that you guys figured out how to do it from a web browser. I bet the Apple engineers really lost sleep over that one! haha!

Those videos are easy enough to fake though. I find it tough to believe the 'in crowd' here wouldn't know something was going on jailbreakable. I suppose its happened before though where suddenly BAM! Someone comes out of nowhere and rocks the JB world.

Go to a store and talk to them. Try a Sprint corporate store first. If that doesn't work try a dealer. In stores they have to meet sales quotas and are more willing to accommodate. I worked for them and they don't advertise the ability to flash a phone because of the fact that some phones they won't ahve the tech support documentation etc. But phones that they carry (like iPhone) is not a risk. I worked in Sprint retention for years and know the ins and outs. Go to a store ready to throw down and sign a contract. Yes you'll need to agree to a 2 year agreement. You know if I were you I would sell your phone for like $400-500 to someone with VZ that needs it and then get a new one from sprint @ the new customer price. I switch carriers and iPhones every few years using that method. Craigslist, baby! Always someone who spilled a martini on their iPhone and don't wanna drop $800 for a new one from Verizon.

Jailbreak. Then open Cydia (really cool resource for apps, tweaks, etc). Purchase TetherMe (couple bucks). There are also plenty of other tether options depending on what you want. TetherMe is what I use.

I know quite a bit about a phone being locked to a carrier and unlocked, etc lol I should've explained my question better. I wondered if "No Sim Unlock" was a type of unlock to make a phone work without a sim or some other illegal trickery. I can't imagine how this would be possible though. That phrase on pod2g's blog has been driving me crazy curiosity forever. haha

On pod2g's blog it says he is "Against Piracy" and he mentions two of the piracy-laden sources on cydia...and he also mentions, "No Sim Unlock". Like he is against it. So does that mean he doesn't agree morally with something ultrasn0w? I have been wondering this for some time. lol
