I couldn't agree with this more. I am randomly drug tested at my job and have been called as many as three times per year before. If I have to pass a drug test to get the money I earn then I see no reason that anyone should object to having to pass a drug test to get part of the money I earn. If having to pass a drug test turns people away from applying for financial aid then they do have the option of not using drugs so they can get the aid. Test away! Also, I couldn't have said it better cajun62234...if they parents are already using drugs the kids are probably already suffering. Maybe this will make the parents clean themselves up so they can better their children's lives and provide for their future a little better.

My heart goes out to their family. This is an awful situation and I can't imagine the pain this family has endured. I hope they find the person(s) that did this and put them where they can't hurt anyone else.

Your argument has a few flaws, TearsofFreya. First of all, I know I'm going to get stuck paying tax dollars for things I object to. I already pay them. Doesn't keep me from objecting to it or speaking out against it. If they were up for vote you can bet I'd be at the polls. Secondly, if someone is paying child support it's generally to the other parent of the child they, themselves, produced. If you're speaking about government assistance of some sort then you should say so. If you would like to take a 90 degree turn into a totally different argument about our tax dollars then we can do that at a different time. What I am saying is that we have a RIGHT to decide whether our tax dollars are spent on something and we have a right to speak out about this issue. We vote on a lot of issues involving how our tax dollars are spent. I hope I have made this sufficiently clear this time.

Ridiculous to say that opinions on this page will "turn many away from Christianity." If someone's opinion will turn anyone away from their "faith" then they really didn't have much to begin with. You may want to know that many Christian churches do welcome homosexuals and also that many churches of other religions do not.

Gays are not of a different race, creed, national origin or religion. Does the Constitution say that we, as a people, are obligated to grant "civil rights" to anyone of a different sexual preference? No. We are not asking you to convert to Christianity or any other religion. You want to live with a same sex partner. Fine. Just don't ask me to pay tax dollars to help support the married spouse of a homosexual. If I find it morally and ethically offensive I should NOT have to pay taxes to help support it. When people start throwing gays into gas chambers or preventing them from going to school then you are comparable to Jews and blacks. Not until. The only "threat" that you face is that someone that actually has morals might stand up to the gay community and say "I am not afraid of saying this is wrong" and not, for once, letting the immoral minority scream "victim here"! Just as you are doing.

This ignorant, inbred hick thanks you. If being slandered is the price I have to pay for standing up for what I believe in, fine. I have many friends who are gay. I have told them that I love them as individuals, but I do not agree with their lifestyle. What the gay community would have us believe is being gay is as normal as being straight. It is not. In no way should gays be granted the same rights. I find it disturbing that what seems to be a large segment of people supporting "gay rights" that you can't even admit that people who aren't religious fanatics find your lifestyle just as wrong and offensive as the pulpit pounding people that are speaking out against it. I find it offensive that you compare your fight to that of the black community. In no way do any of you have the right. You are pompous and arrogant and are giving yourselves too much credit. We are not homophobic. We're not scared of you. We're not intimidated by you. We are not diminished by you in any way, shape or form. We simply believe that you are leading a deviant lifestyle and searching for any means to justify and condone it.

This is not about government conspiracies or "big government". This is about NOT changing laws to accommodate what a lot of people consider a sin. If you ignore those "few select verses" in the Bible as one poster wrote, why not ignore the ones that say "thou shall not kill"? You can't just choose to follow part of a religion and skip over the parts you find difficult. I have no problem with the gay community, but I refuse to act as if this is perfectly normal behavior. It is not now nor will it ever be "normal". As far as the "oppression" argument goes. No one is saying all gays should be eradicated or enslaved. All I'm saying is that I refuse to grant the same rights to people who choose to live in sin. If we grant these rights to same sex couples why not people who choose to live together but not get married? Why not pedophiles? Why not practicers of beastiality or necrophilia? Where will the line be drawn? And yes, I will sleep just fine tonight knowing that gays are not treated as equals.
