I can't think of a better director for this material. I know universal doesn't want to be blue balled with the hope of a big box office smash only to see it under perform like WB was with Watchmen, but you don't get into making movies if you don't have a certain tolerance for risk.

If you have never watched the show before, let me tell you now, its much better than you think. It contains a strange mixture of other HBO shows. +Sex and the City - A group of women gabbing about relationships, except they are all with the same guy. +Sopranos - FLDS and LDS is portrayed like rival mafia gangs, all using any means necessary to attain power +Carnivale - Weird FLDS compound people are kind of like carnies.

I hope all the people in the /filmcast chat room that laughed at me when I asserted that Smith was about to do a drastically different movie, one that could possibly get him some nominations, are reading this article. This is a guy that has made some of the most affecting dick and fart joke movies ever. Imagine what he could do with legitimate material! PS I am a huge Warren Zevon fan. This is now one of my most anticipated projects.

Most of the theaters where I live (Austin, Texas) have terrible sound and projection. Except for the Alamos, and the Galaxy. Too bad they make up maybe 15% of the theaters here at most. It would be one thing if they didn't charge the extra $5. I'll take what improvments to sound and picture I can get. That said charging $5 extra is insane.

I like how you used a fat Peter Jackson picture. If I went to the trouble to lose 200 lbs. I would hope people would at least get some updated stock photos. It's like using a 9 1/2 weeks era photo of Mickey Rourke next to an article about his next movie. ...On second thought thats probably for the best.
