"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Peter Laird tries to prove that he’s no longer relevant by panning JJ Abrams Star Trek, calling it “a HUGE disappointment,” “lots of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”" LOL indeed. Because TMNT was such a well thought out, deep morality tale... And are people just now noticing the similarities between the Iron Man and Trek posters? That's the very first thing I said when I saw it a month ago: "Paramount must be using the same guy to do the international Star Trek poster!"

What happened to the movie industry losing *so much money* from online piracy like the MPAA is more than happy to trot around? It seems in the past year or so a lot of records have been broken, and last year the movie industry had their highest grossing year ever.

/Film : Star Trek - Film Review

I find it hilarious that everyone here seems to be taking this as the be-all end-all review of this film. "Oh well if Brendon didn't like it..." Seriously, he spends half a paragraph comparing a character who's in it for a few minutes at best to the Ewoks, who encompassed a great deal of "Return of the Jedi". Try reading more than this review and you'll find there are many more praising the film a great deal, though in his defense most of them do have the general theme of "things seem to convenient at times", along with the criticism over the lack of development of the villain, Nero.

That's horrible! I was lucky enough to see it in the theater (a Landmark Theater in Minneapolis) and I loved it. I was hoping to buy it on DVD soon, fuck that now. At least until I hear the subs have been fixed proper.

/Film : Avatar's Budget Exceeds $300 Million! Most Expensive Movie of All Time?

I have an issue with this film, though it's certainly not their fault. I have been blind in my left eye since I was born and as such, 3D films do nothing for me. With all this talk about how amazing it will be, I can't seem to get myself excited for this. This isn't going to be a 3D-only release is it? Will it also be released it in 2D? I would think so, as there aren't nearly enough digital theaters to make up a $300 million-plus budget. It'd be unfortunate if it was.

They have given us absolutely no reason to be excited. It's hype, that's it. "It's going to be super awesome amazing 3D ZOMG!!". Yeah, ok, sure. How about you actually *show* people something that isn't Cameron in front of a generic-looking set, then we'll see about how "revolutionary" this film is supposed to be. "And if there is a film you’re looking forward to more this year, explain." Plenty of them I'm looking forward to more. Up, Star Trek, Terminator, even 9. At least we've seen what they espouse.

I know Dr. Kakalios, he's a good guy. I don't see anything wrong or stupid about looking at the physics of superheroes; it's not as if he isn't intelligent, rather, by applying physics to something like comics and superheroes, he is helping to introduce the field of phyiscs to those who might otherwise be disinterested.
