I have a Mexican father and it was my nana, (my paternal grandmother) who instilled in me a sense of my Mexican heritage. I loved the timing on this also as just last night I had been thinking about the fact that my children (who look even whiter than I do (if this is even possible since I barely even got a hint of mexican coloring) have very little connection to that part of them other than the fact that I cook authentic Mexican food often... He has such a beautiful plan for the women and babies who will live in this maternity home and I feel so privileged to get to have a hand in it. I am thinking some more about what Mercy means and remembering my own time spent living in a Maternity home when I was a teenager and I look over the top of my computer and see my boys playing wii together and my infant daughter chewing on her pink teapot on the floor, while my husband is at work providing for us and I know- for me Mercy is *this* being my life. Mercy is everything I am surrounded by and every blessing in my life. I deserve none of it. But because of people like you, our readers, people who raised funds for that maternity home in Grover Beach CA so long ago, I have a beautiful life. So, on behalf of every woman who's life will be changed because you gave, every girl who will one day sit on her own couch surrounded by the evidence of a beautiful life and reflect on where she came from, Thank you.
