Very courageous. The only part I question is misleading the 'fathers' family. They thought it was going to be a boy....wow. As a parent myself, I would have a really hard time forgiving a lie of that magnitude...

I would have liked the story more if there was a "and he made a nice donation to the library'...after he returned the book. I have paid numerous fees and replaced a few books when I am late. It is a fee I have no problem paying if it helps keep books available to children...

Poor child. How incredibly sad. I can't even imagine, nor do I ever want to know, what the parents are and will go through because of this. I am sure no comments posted here will be any worse than what the parents will say to themselves over this. I hope they are able to find peace. This was a tragic, tragic accident.

I dont understand the mentality that because other missing children arent getting media attention, this one shouldnt either. I HOPE that the media attention stays focused on finding Kyron- and I hope that other missing children receive as much attention as possible. This gazelle focus on the case will most likely bring some kind of closure... eventually (which I pray is a reunion of child to parents)...If media attention brings a child home- BRING IT ON. I will gladly follow the stories and do my part to support the efforts. If youre not interested in this story, turn the page...but please dont begrudge a family whatevery glimmer of hope they have to find their child.

Noha, I am not sure how I implied any assumption one way or the other about the parents by stating that the flaw in this toybox is beyond disturbing. The article made no implication one way or the other as far as the parents are concerned. However- the fact that the little boy could not get out of the toybox once it 'latched' is the maddening part --regardless of who made it and when.

I think the toy box maker can be blamed. Recalls are made all the time for things that pose hazards to children. While I dont agree with MrBears message, I definately believe anyone who designs and manufactures any items for children needs to be held responsible for irresponsible construction and subsequent consequences...which in this case was a 4 year olds life. I would rather have toys spill onto the floor than have a child die because of a latch.

Such a sad tragedy. My heart goes out to this family. Why are there still toy boxes that latch like this? I remember years ago, refrigerators used to latch from the outside and enough children died from being locked in them that the designs were all changed so that they could easily be pushed open from the inside. To hear that ANY toy box has this flaw is beyond disturbing.

I think it was poor judgement to strut in front of students with the very obvious private part poking out like it was. The Elvis costume and performance would have been fine if this hadnt been part of it. If this was the only instance it should still trigger an investigation...an authority figure has no right to strut in fron t of kids being that obviously aroused. Since it is not the only instance of poor judgement, NOT investigating would be wreckless IMO.
