Please help!!! i have been stuck in Recov mode, I have been able to get jailbreak to work using Redsn0w but I had to direct it to old firmware 4.2.1 then tried to restore to 4.2.1 through iTunes and that didn't work. When Jailbrake worked I had the one bar issue and couldn't make any calls, import contacts or see a carrier under settings. I do have my SHSH Blobs saved on Tinyumbrella but that doesn't seem to restore either. iTunes is saying that my IPSW is up to date meaning it is on 4.3.1 but i can't for the life of me figure out how to fix this. I am trying another computer as I type this, and I will update if that works [edit] I have managed to restore to 4.3.1 now using a work mates computer. and now have reception etc. i will try to jailbreak again once sync is completed.

Its the inital point i can't get past! you have obviously used the programe, its the first thing that it asks you to do. It asks to locate my .IPSW file which I have on my desktop and now I have two of them, the original .IPSW from apple and the d/l version from the links above. but when i click browse and direct it to the CORRECT .IPSW (iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw) It tells me that it is trying to process the file then it just comes up with "unable to recognise specified .ipsw file" and will not let me continue. I have tried it under the following conditions: changing versions; i have tried v0.8 and 0.7.2 of redsn0w and tried to get it to find both versions of my .ipsw and still same response. i did it with a different USB and tried a hub, i also tried all of the above in safe mode. and again on a different computer where i d/l all of the software again on that. but still i get the same response! "unable to recognise specified .ipsw file." My iphone is on firmware 3.0.1 and plenty of others have JB'd fine with the same firmware, i have no idea what is going wrong!

Ok, I have now tried everything! Safe mode didnt work, USB hub didnt work, and now im on my other computer just tried it and Using redsn0w 0.7.2 direct to browse the file iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw instead of iPhone1,2_3.0.1_7A400_Restore.ipsw Then redsn0w will confirm that it has found the file. and thats the point it just wont bloody get past. This is just getting annoying now. i have been asking my friend who has his iphone JB'd how he did it and thats what he said. it worked for him and obviously many others but why can i get it to work!? I havent seen anything that explains why this would keep happening when im directing it to the correct file. I even gave quick Pwn a go and that is only compatible with firmware 2.x.x and wont find it. but i have read that people have used it for v3.0?!? Could it be that i am running firmware 3.0.1? would it be an idea to downgrade back to just 3.0 and try again? Is there anything that you could think of that could explain this? cos im all out of ideas. and i havent found anything else that can help me out! Cheers

It took me awhile to find them as well. Im running XP im assuming you are too. i found mine in the folder called Apple Computer if you do a search for it it might come up. otherwise it was in my comp> doc and settings>"user">application data>Apple Computer>iTunes>iPhone Software updates and they should appear there. make sure you direct redsn0w to the 3.0 update not the 3.0.1 im still having some probs getting this to work but hopefully you will have better luck.
ok i now have redsn0w v0.7.2 am trying now. also im 100% sure i have the right file its on my desktop. i updated my iphone to 3.0 using itunes so i just found the file in the (my docs>user>apple computer> iphone resourse > xxxx.IPSW) folder and added that to desktop in my redsn0w folder making sure its the 3.0.IPSW not the 3.0.1.IPSW. so that means that there is no need to change the file extention as it was never a .zip and both show up as .IPSW and no its not waiting to reboot i have been using it fine between d/l's and forum surfing. I will let you know how i go with the 0.7.2 version. Cheers

Ok i have tried everything, except i couldnt find a diff version of redsn0w. what version would you suggest. I also d/l QwickPwn (havent tried it yet) would that also be an option to try? or would you recommend sticking it out with redsn0w? checked iclarified and it just showed me what i have already seen, but no matter what i try it just won't recognise the .IPSW. it also says to d/l the firmwear but i have it. do i still need to do that step? Thanx for all of your help with this!!

Hi all, i'm running Win XP 32 bit iTunes 8.2.1 with iPhone 3g on firmwear 3.0.1 im new to jailbreak and im having difficulties in getting redsn0w to recognise my .IPSW i have read a substantial amount on this forum and have seen the other comments and have tried many of the options; ie: uncheck hide file ext, also made sure that im directing it to 3.0 instead of 3.0.1 .IPSW but it just doesn't seem to want to recognise it. i have tried numerous times but it just wont get past that stage. can someone please help me, i want to get the most out of this phone, unfortunatly its not as easy as some might say. HELP ME! Thanx
