The reason, as you state, we are so "passionate" about our guns is two fold. Yes to protect ourselves as well as our families. But more importantly it is our right protected by the 2nd ammendment which our Founders didn't feel but knew was neccesary to protect the Freedoms and Liberties granted to us by our Constitution. You see they knew that if "We the People" didn't protect the Constitution that no one would. As I read this amazingly I went back to a conversation I had with a Warrent Officer while I served in the U.S. Coast Guard. She was a really down to earth commissioned officer who would actually engage in a verbel exchange with and enlisted member. She was encouraging me to start investing in my retirement early etc.etc. During our conversation she explained to me that she had to be very careful, because of her position, that none of her own personal investments had any ties to the purchasing she approved. I rememeber how matter a fact she was when she said this, she continued that if she approved purchasing of a certain product and that product was produced by a company which she held stock in she could be punished by Captains Mast for Violating the UCMJ ,due to a conflict of interest. Of course I'm sure it would have to be blatent abuse of her purcahsing power for personal gain. What gets me is that she was so very commited and dedicated to her duty and position.
