I don't know how many people in my mid sized mid-western city have heard about this movie and are really excited. I've talked to a bunch of folks who have heard about it and are stoked, but now this. So disappointing.

Pretty sure this ends with the little kid wishing for more money. Someone shows up and tells him his dad was killed in a horrible accident at work, and because of the life insurance the family is rich. The rainbow pepple is cursed!!! What irony!!

I'm happy to see so many people share the same disgust for Diablo Cody's "academy award winning" screenwriting talents. What a hack. BTW Have you guys ever heard of LOLCats!! It's the greatest, next big thing!!!11!!11 I'm sure it's just underground enough for D. Cody to reference it in her next big thing.

Oh my god. This could be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. So in order to appreciate all that WORLD cinema has to offer I should learn to speak fluently EVERY SINGLE LANGUAGE THAT HAS EVER PRODUCED A MOVIE?!?!?!?! You are a pretentious asshole. Go to hell.

But a dub over loses so much of the original performance. An avid audience member shouldn't have to settle for a dub over (that replaces the native inflection and original dialogue) when a perfectly fine sub track already has been mastered and well received. Your post is all the more proof for why the sub track shouldn't have been changed in the first place.

Wow. What a disrespectful statement. It's been stated earlier, but this film lacks a larger general audience appeal (unfortunately). A studio that would undercut and minimize the only audience they have in order to save face is a short sighted studio indeed. Just admit your fucking screw up, fix the problem, and move on. Why offer such a mean spirited retort? So short sighted.

/Film : Frost/Nixon, The Reader and Milk Are Among the Weakest-Grossing Best Picture Nominees in a Decade

How many posts do we have to read that are thinly layered digs at the Academy for not nominating the TDK? If Batman didn't have such a ridiculous fanboy base, no one would be talking about gross domestic receipts for the top 5 noms. I loved TDK, but just because it wasn't nominated doesn't mean I can't enjoy other good films (like all that where nominated).

/Film : Will The Dark Knight Snubs Result in the Lowest Rated Oscar Telecast in History?

What I'm saying is the only movie that this "voter turn-out" argument applies to is the Dark Knight. The Wrestler, The Reader, Doubt, whatever ones you think are better, whatever. This article is bitching about Nielsen ratings and box office receipts like it applies to most films that that Academy has nominated, but that's just silly. The only movie that has had any really big box office success is TDK and has been "snubbed". I don't care enough to research the exact box office returns for Doubt, The Wrestler, and The Reader. But, I'm pretty sure that there isn't a huge difference in receipts. Don't try to make it seem like The Wrestler or Doubt were huge (commercial) successes when compared to The Reader, when all anyone is REALLY pissed abouted is TDK.

The Academy take note? Doubt and the Wrestler are two more movies that NO ONE HAS SEEN!!! The only reason this kind of debate is going on is because everyone online's pissed TDK got snubbed. Also, the collective body of the Academy could give two shits about viewer turnout. How many people voting actually have real commercial interest in how many viewers tune in? Very few I would argue.
