"This whole “let’s teach Uhura everything she’s forgotten” plot is TOTALLY WRECKING my suspension of disbelief. In real life it would take her years to relearn all the necessary skills for her job."

My personal headcanon is that her memories weren't erased but suppressed and came back to her fairly quickly. It's the only way I can reconcile that plot hole.

Thinking about this story has made me appreciate Nichelle Nichols' ad libbing Uhura's "sorry, neither" line from The Naked Time like 1000x more. I mean, Uhura, an unmarried woman, admitted to not being a virgin! In the 60s!

That blur hits uncanny valley territory for me. Like, it wouldn't be so bad if it was just when they were first shown, but when they have conversations with the men in normal view, and the women blurred it makes them look like they're in another dimension or something.
