I have been fortunate to be slender all of my life, but my middle child, John, has battled it since he came down with Kawasaki's Disease at the age of 2. It came on gradual, but he just had a big appetite. He exercised by playing sports, but it didn't help too much. About two years ago, at the age of 16, he was diagnosed as having hypo-thyroidism...probably stemming from the illness he had so many years ago (he had fevers up to 106 degrees). Who knows what really caused it, but it was rather upsetting that his pediatrician didn't diagnose him immediately. We had to move to get an answer (that's not why we moved...). At any rate, I sympathize with people who are overweight. It is an uphill battle. My son, since finally getting on the right medication, has started dropping weight, and feels and acts like a new person. I have learned through experience that raccoons are not the friendliest of critters. My dogs cornered a HUGE raccoon in the backyard years ago. He was on his haunches making these horrible sounds. I managed to get my dogs by their collars and get them into the house, but in all the commotion the poor raccoon was coming after me...I had my flannel night gown on. It was quite a site to say the least...lol!!!
