I've got a picture of Ahmadinejad on my phone - that's probably OK.

As Britain races headlong toward its own destruction...

Funny definition of "races" and "headlong". Considering we've been racing headlong towards our destruction in every other JW post for the last two or three years, it's strange we haven't got there yet.

For a less racy and heady, and more balanced analysis, see here:

Whatever it does, from the Left and from the Right, from Muslim and Infidel, and from Muslim-appeaser and counter-Jihadist, China always gets a pass:

The Jihadi is distinctly unamused, but there is, as Khomeini said, no fun in Islam.

What a pity Mohammed didn't like dressing up in little pink cocktail dresses. The course of history might have been very different.

Muslim is as Muslim does. It's his behaviour that makes him unfit to practise.

I don't know, and neither do you. A few mouse clicks might uncover sanctions/fines/punishments for misconduct findings.

I can't speak for dentistry, but in the accounting profession there are sanctions like "admonish", "reprimand" etc which come with fines. At each stage the professional's reputation is damaged as such findings are published. And with reputation comes income.

Anyway, as I said before, I agree that he should be out of a job, but my concern is to remedy the misleading impression that he is allowed to get away with refusing treatment - an impression which the "Churchill would turn in his grave" contingent will no doubt get from the original post.

I agree he should have been out of a job. However, being found guilty of misconduct is not nothing, even if it falls short of what he deserves.

There are degrees of disciplinary offences in professions, some of which merit expulsion, some reprimands, fines, whatever. I would, with my layman's knowledge, and my knowledge of Islam, far rather this guy had been struck off. Nevertheless, in terms of danger to patients etc, his offence was not on a par with, say, this one:

<a href="http://www.dentistry.co.uk/news/news_detail.php?i..." target="_blank">http://www.dentistry.co.uk/news/news_detail.php?i...

Anyway, my main point is that the partial quote in Robert's original post gives the misleading impression that the dentist has got his way on the headscarf thing, which he hasn't.

I agree, but he didn't actually "win", since he was found guilty of misconduct.

I agree. But he was found guilty of misconduct, even if he wasn't struck off, as I think he should have been.

I'm just clarifying, because the above gives the misleading impression that he is still getting away with it, an impression some of the comments here reflect.

Just to clarify, from the same article:

The panel said today the events took place "a considerable time ago" and Dr Butt had not repeated the conduct since September 2007.

In addition, the committee accepted he had changed his approach as a result of the action taken against him.

I think he should have been struck off, but there is at least no question of him continuing in his behaviour, as is implied by the partial quote above.
