They showed, ability to speak, emotions and intelligence. You have no reason to not call them actual living, thinking, feeling beings other than fact that truth is too difficult to grasp

And whats the reason you disagree? Isn't it what exactly happened in that episode?
Other problems: If mirror pond is so ungodly powerfull, much beyond elements of harmony why it was never mentioned?
Why anybody would ignore such thing, or why pinkie would even dare to use it? (ok i know its because its filler episode)
Why Twilight won't even try to reserch problem and discover that clones have problem with memory and makes retarded test that would be ungodly hard for real pinkie? Suspension of disbelief have limits.

Episode discriminates sentient beings for idiotic arbitrary reason. Its ok to send pinkie clones that are almost like her to the mirror pond for all eternity but its tragedy to do it to original pinkie.
