Promises, promises. Why now? Right before the elections? Were all these things impossible to accomplish in the past five years?! Or the past 50 years, for that matter?

News flash: We already had English-medium schools. We already had affordable housing. Many years ago. Then what happened? That's the question the voters should be asking.

When I see the staff at KL shops, restaurants and hospitals etc. nowadays - glum, grumpy, sleepy, avoiding eye contact, no Please, no Thank you - I want to say, Bring on the robots!

On recent trips to Paris and London, I experienced the self-service checkout at the supermarket, as well as the self-service airport checkin. As a customer, I loved it.

And yes, I'm happy to spend 650 euros per day on a personal tour guide -- but in that case I fully expect someone pleasant, personable, knowledgeable and outgoing. Someone with a human touch.

I never touch alcohol but neither do I go around pushing my beliefs and values unto others. This guy's holier-than-thou fanaticism is just sad and embarrassing. And what a venue he picked - as if the legal profession in this country was defined by a single religion.
