I cannot see any possible reason why not if a candidate is disaffected with the existing parties and happens to be a Nationalist.

No problem. I will most certainly be seeking re-election and I shall be standing as an Independent. I have not decided on the final wording of my description for the ballot paper as yet. I am aware of the rules of course and shall finalise my description in good time.

I most certainly shall be David. I shall be standing as an Independent candidate. I feel perfectly comfortable with this and if I took a party whip between now and then it would tend to look like I could not make my mind up. Nothing could be further from the truth.

If the information coming forth today that an electrical warehouse has been emptied it is further evidence of criminal unrest rather than civil unrest. It is also becoming apparent that the police response is woefully inadequate and I am sure will be unsatisfactory to local residents. Until the laws of this nation are strongly enforced there will be more instances of this type.

There is little doubt that head office will point to internal disruption, the voters 'natural and inevitable' return to two party politics in the face of cuts and the press. Sometimes the truth hurts but it would be nice to read a sensible analysis on the main website, alongside a few other things I would like to read about on the national website such as the constitutional reform that was voted for by members and has, unconstitutionally, never happened.

What a beautifully tranquil way to begin the day. Our youngest (Aimee) is 7 today and and will want to see this clip again I am certain. There is an element in the clip that took the cynical part of my brain straight back to politics and the economy in particular. Did you spot them Simon? It was of course the 'green shoots' amongst the foliage in the background. Nature recovers annually, a word, 'recovery' that politicians at the moment have stopped using. My political loyalties lie with Nationalism and I am quite used to people that know no better (or maybe you do) claiming that I must be a Griffinite on whatever grounds they are claiming this week. Any concerns of mine are voiced in house where I will be as critical as I damn well like without bringing it to the attention of the public. Party members are more than welcome to speak to me about things if they wish and some do. I have open, honest and frank discussions with members with quite opposing views. This is healthy in a political party. You clearly have views on the party leadership and I hope that you have retained your membership card so that you can have your say when the time comes. I do laugh at the fools who do not renew their membership to try to starve the party of funds, a tactic which is so obviously fatally flawed, who will then bleat when they do not get a vote in the next leadership election. I am still surprised by the number of commenters who have not got what it takes to use their own names.
