KCRG : Iowa City May Ban Game-day Vendors Outside Kinnick Stadium | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Spo

When you buy a house near a college football stadium, you have to expect that there is going to noise, commotion, and trash on a game day. I would be willing to bet that the people complaining about those sure enjoy the money that they make parking cars in their yard on those same game days though!

GazetteOnline.com : Report: Woman killed in Blairs Ferry Road crash was intoxicated

Since the autopsy reports says she died of multiple trauma and also alcohol intoxication I would be willing to bet that her blood alcohol level was sky high. That being said, I'm would guess that she was not walking across the road, but rather, was lying on the road. At 4 in the morning it was dark, and if she was wearing a dark color and was perhaps curled up, he may have thought someone dropped a garbage bag and that that was what he had hit.

GazetteOnline.com : Muldoon pleads guilty to lesser charges after issue with key witness

I was thinking the same thing Conan. Because she is failing to meet her part of the agreement, I would think that her plea agreement would be thrown out, in which she she could be looking at a first degree murder charge. Unfortunately, this scenario is too common. Same thing happened when my step-daughter was murdered in another state by her mother's boyfriend. He was found guilty of felony injury to a child and given 10, but was out in 7.

You really can't compare RAGBRAI to a Hawkeye game. The University of Iowa is a state owned institution. The Des Register is a private corporation. As such, they should be paying for the additional law enforcement required for their event.

GazetteOnline.com : Report: 60,000 more Iowa kids are insured

My kids don't qualify for Hawk-I because they have "insurance". I put it in quotes because with a $3000 deductible it really doesn't provider any coverage except for something very major. I think it's time that the state start looking at the under insured children if they are worried about children receiving medical care.

Regardless of how minor the reason she was stopped, she was stopped because she was breaking a law. I would imagine that she was probably throwing her weight around since she WAS to be a prosecutor and thought she was above the law. We don't need an "attitude change" in Marion. It's because of our police department that our city is always among the safest cities in the state. Keep up the good work, Officers!

GazetteOnline.com : PCI’s Sundall makes sales pitch for Second Avenue closure

I don't agree with closing 2nd Avenue, but I want to clarify what is meant by a "fixed system". A doctor, hospital, etc., signs a contract with an insurance carrier. Under that contract, they will be allowed to collect X number of dollars for procedure Y. It doesn't matter if they charge $100 or $100,000 dollars. If the agreed upon amount for that service is $50, then that is all that they can collect total between both the insurance company and the patient. The rest of the charged amount is written off. It is the insurance companies who set the amounts that we, and they, pay for services, not the providers.

Second, how could Taylor be charged with setting up job for herself. Another fantastic job of writing and editing.
